You could consider using that $1,000 to have someone write a batch of high quality articles for you....submit them to a directory, earn a revenue share, and boost your web design business of the search engine authority/traffic of the directory....

I wouldn't use Facebook Ads....but, that's just me....

If you have a coupon for Google Adwords, use that and test a bit...and, based on those tests, use the ad(s) that are most successful...

Where do you see opportunities to expand your business? I would also try PPC Marketing, maybe with CPA, maybe with other affiliate products. And, of course, boost your webdesign business!

Since you're after the local market, then you should focus
either on Local SEO where you should target such terms as
"your keyword [your location]".And since most of SEO can be done
by hand for free, I'd invest this money in direct mail ads and/or
endorsemtns with local businesses.

Buy a domain name like this,

Examples would be,

- vancouver web design
- vancouver freelance web designer

Since you're a localized business, focus on keywords that use your city or region name. This way you're guaranteed to find people who are in your area looking for your services.

I agree with Igor. The SEO for local search will be fairly straightforward. When it comes to drumming up local business direct mail works well...postcards etc.

Me too wanted to suggest SEO at first,but after reading your word local then i had other ideas like news papers,post cards,making some banners in the highly traffic junctions will do better.

  How about results guiding you rather than us?
  
  yes I know you have credits - but - preserve the credits for now if you can. Find some coupons on Adwords and other advertising media. Try each of them - you may get some share of free ads.
  
  See which one converts.
  
  Now use your $1000 into that one.
  
  Or, if you are new to advertising, grab some solid PPC material before you even try the free coupon - else you may end up wasting the coupon and knowing nothing about the effectiveness of the various advertising channels.
  
  And, if none of them work, then simply go for other avenues - either using the $1000 (if you have in cash), or preserving that (if that has an expiry date).
