I was doing some research on one of my niches and found a blog with one of my articles posted. Everything in the article is identical to mine, including the links back to my site. The blog that this article was posted on has nothing to do with my niche. Has anyone else experienced this? should i be concerned or happy for the exposure?

thanks in advance for the replies!

You just got a free backlink... How could that be bad? Article directories encourage people to re-publish content as long as they leave the link attached...

If your article was posted on an article directory, then it's perfectly legitimate for someone to use it, so long as they preserve the back links. That is actually the main purpose of article directories - at least, I think it is.

If your article was copied from your own site and backlinks added, then that's really a breach of your copyright - it's up to you if you allow it or ask for it to be taken down.

you could pay $99 for a DMCA take down notice...

Or just spend 30 minutes writing a new article.

I guess it depends on how much you like that content!

(I'd just take the backlink and forget about it)

It doesn't cost $99 for a DCMA notice to be filed, it's just a format for presenting your legitimate complaint to a host (I've done many - in my niches, it seems to be all too common to steal my articles yet conveniently removed the backlinks required for proper usage). I have no idea why you would think it costs $99 fee for complaining within your legit rights. Explain, please!

DMCA take down notices do not cost anything and they work.

However, when someone gives me credit or links back, I take it. It's a win win as far as I'm concerned.

    Davey,
I think you should be glad you got a backlink. Isn't that what we want? Probably, you have enabled a trackback in your blog posting. Backlinks bring traffic to your website and boost your ranking in the search engine results.

This may also be a case where you used an article spinning service such as Unique Article Wizard where it syndicates your articles that you created and posts them on hundreds of blog sites or inter connected sites that are affiliated to Unique Article Wizard.

The more the links on your content, the better. If you have not used an article syndication or spinning software it may be a good idea to look into one as they can give you hundreds of good follow anchor text backlinks that will improve your search engine results and send targeted traffic to your site or sites.

If your link is still on it that's OK.

When your ebooks/reports are all over torrent sites it gets more annoying.
