I want to start an article writing service but i am a little confused about how to get started. I know how to write a WSO but i don't know how to install a paypal button on it.

Also i am not sure what kind of rates i should charge.

I also would like to give away 10 free 500 word articles so i could maybe get some reviews on my writing.

Here is a sample of my writing. Increased Online Traffic - How to Increase and Measure Website Traffic

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Perhaps you could set up a website with a few examples, some packages for sale and paypal buttons, then send people there from the WSO?
That way you could also drive traffic there, from mutliple sources as well, like using your sig on your ezine articles.

Thanks John that is a good idea. It will just take me a little more time to set up but i like that idea for long term success.

As a War Room member, you can search there to find a guide to that very thing I wrote earlier this month.

Also i am not sure what kind of rates i should charge.
There is no good reason for a native English speaker who can write on even a talented amateur level to charge less than 2 cents a word.

If you honestly believe you are a professional-quality writer, most professional writing organisations will not accept any assignment you did for under 5 cents a word as "experience." They generally agree that no professional writer should be working for less than that.

The IM community doesn't like to pay professional rates (which can go as high as a dollar a word), but I generally feel that if you are a good writer, you should be charging 3 to 5 cents a word in the IM community... and even more outside it.

John's advice is good. For more detail, Jenn Dize has an excellent ghostwriting course; there's a free PDF preview available at http://www.darklock.com/ghostwritingfreebook.pdf (branded with my affiliate links, obviously), and honestly it's her guidance and coaching that got my own writing business off the ground.

Bev Clement also operates a course; I've heard very good things about it, but haven't taken it myself.

It would be a good idea to post a sample article without spelling mistakes

Article writing is about how quick you can research a title given to you and how quick you can write up a 500 word article.

80%+ of articles on ezine (and others) are just random streams of consciousness based around a keyword. If you can find customers who want that charge $3 per 500 words and rush off 6 an hour. $18 a hour isn't bad.

If you're actually going to research the article and come up with something useful, then you'll need to charge more because of the time you'll be putting in. It's not just the poor return for the hours put in but the fact that if you put up your own blog and wrote the articles for yourself you'd end up earning more money.

6 an hour for waffle! And most people can do that themselves

2 an hour is good going. But if you are familar with the niche it is much easier. Some niches are really boring if you're not into the product and it can be a struggle writing those articles!

There is lots of demand (or there seems to be) for article writing so you're bound to find work.
