Default Is this the stupidest idea you've ever heard?

Hi,

I'm always coming up with ideas that are way off centre. Some of them are so stupid that they simply waste my time; other make me a good living. One of them I use is starting to come good and as far as I know I'm the only IM'er in the world who does it - but I may be wrong of course.

However I've had this idea rattling around in my brain for a while and I can't work out if it is just plain stupid.

So in order to move on I need someone to tell me straight.

Here it is - please don't laugh too loud.

There is a product that is being developed by a friend that will pay me $50 in affiliate commission every month. I wanted to add a really great bonus to draw in sales. So my stupid brain came up with: "Sign up through me and choose any Clickbank product for FREE."

Obviously this isn't selling any specific product as a bonus but instead offering to refund the full cost of any Clickbank purchase that is made via my hop link. My research suggest the figures add up and no refund would be given until the return guarantee of the initial product is finished - but am I missing something obvious - would I be in danger of getting lynched.

Your thoughts and honest comments would be most welcome.

Hi Steve,

I thought it would be wackier than that. after that build up. Why not just create an original complementary product as a bonus?

That way you can brand yourself, save yourself a lot of hassle and use your input to make it utterly enticing?

Thanks ExRat,

Yes you are absolutely correct of course. I am developing an ebook that compliments it and I believe enhances the orginal software.

It's just that I was looking for an idea that might catch the imagination a little and draw in the crowds but as you say the clickbank idea probably isn't as wacky as all that.

Hi Steve,

IMO if I was on your list I not only would want to lynch you I would unsubscribe from the list. I also think you would lose a mess of credibility with your list.

Now you got the Old Geezer all fired up - great....

If you mean that you are going to refund them out of your own pocket, then maybe. But I thought I read somewhere that it's a violation of CB's TOS. Maybe not - I'm not a CB expert.

You might want to re-word your post because the first read makes it sound like you'll get them to buy a CB product and then show them how to refund it.

Hi Steve,

I think novel ideas and original thinking should always be rewarded, but I think bigmike's right - refunds/cashback as bonuses to do with clickbank is pretty much a nono.

It's a good idea though, maybe you can refine it a little and get around the violation...

Thanks Guys,

As always the advice I receive from warriors is always most helpful. I certainly didn't mean I would show people how to get a refund (I'm sorry if that's how it read). I meant I would use the first months $50 commission from the product I'm promoting to refund their purchase of the clickbank product.

All in all it's feeling like another onr of more stupid ideas. But thanks for taking the time out to give me some help. If I can return the favour just ask.

Wouldn't it be easier to offer a "cash back" bonus? Better yet, a $25 VISA giftcard / Gas card.
