IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT: Have you seen your Paypal account today? This is what they say... We will be performing maintenance on the PayPal site from 11:30 IST to 12:30 IST. The site will be unavailable during that time. Thank you for your patience. During that time, will the buyers be unable to make the payments? Or will we just not get the payment notices etc? I ask because my sales are high these days as I am getting a ton of targeted traffic and I do not want to miss a couple of payments that might come in in that period of time. -Lakshay |

A few months ago, PayPal was making a change to their interface. At that time I had a WSO going and a lot of sales in a short time. Here's what happened: The sales went through no problem. I got the money in my PP account. However, the IPN confirmation from PP was delayed and my script wouldn't deliver the product. Over the next few hours I had to hang around my computer and manually deliver each order. I'd just stand by and see what happens. be ready! |

Obviously you haven't seen me dance. I would hate the thought of Bollywood going bankrupt because of my dancing. We did get to see a lot of movies while there. I did enjoy Doom 2 or it was called something like that. | |

Actually, I thought it was a given that Paypal performs maintenance once a week every Thursday night. Or have things changed? ~ Sirius |

During previous maintenance periods their payment processor was still in operation. If you're concerned about missing an hour of two of payments, just imagine what Paypal would miss! Forget about switiching to another payment processor. Like Google, Paypal is by far the biggest and the best, and it's still growing. The best thing is to set up your own payment system with a merchant account but keep paypal there as an option. |

David, Paypal might be trhe best at smaller payment levels, but when it comes to larger payments and more frequent payments, you need to think of another solution. And as you have rightly said, I am thinking of getting my own processor system. -Lakshay |

When PayPal does maintenance, it does NOT interfere with receiving payments. It only affects the back office features, which means you cannot login and access your account information, profile, etc. This doesn't affect anyone from logging in to make payments - that's a different, front office system that does not require maintenance. Incidentally, it also won't slow down or interfere with emails being sent or IPN data being transmitted. The problem Kevin was referring to occurred because of a system wide change in the core programming. So...nothing to worry about! |
