Hey, if anyone hasn't seen it, Google Voice is now available for anyone (in the US) to sign up. No invites required. I love the service. I'm sure many others here do as well.

    Nope, doesn't appear as though it's open to all just yet.

    guess I could rtfm but thought I'd be lazy and ask here - does anyone know how long a voice mail you can leave? Was thinking maybe of dictating an article or small report and getting the transcript. Does anyone know?

      Hi Jack,

      I don't know if it's changed, however a few months back when I was testing it the incoming voicemail was unlimited and the outgoing voice message to callers was not long at all. 30 seconds if I recall correctly. I just remember being disappointed because I wanted to leave a longer message.

      Now that you reminded me of this I'll try again and see if things have changed.

        I've been using it for a long time now. What I really like is the automatic transcription. When someone leaves a message, you can set it to send you an email with the transcription. I almost never check my voicemail -- I just read the transcription.

        Of course, the transcription always has mistakes, but usually I can understand what the person really said.

    I am beginning to wonder at this particular moment whether or not we will be able to insert Skype numbers as well as all of the other numbers that are associated with online activity into this service.

    Ya, I've had it for awhile now. I absolutely love it. It still has a ways to go in comparison to Skype. But I love some of the features they offer.
