Careers in online advertising marketing/sales?
I'm a college student majoring in Actuarial Science, which is not at all related to internet marketing or sales -- however I was able to leverage my internet marketing experience to get a paid internship in online ad sales for a local newspaper that also has an online division. Essentially I'll be selling a social media advertising package to local businesses and contacting them via phone. I was also told that upon graduation (I'm going to be a senior this fall), that if everything goes well this could turn into an "account executive" position.
Anyways, I'm wondering what kind of doors this might open for future career opportunities. I've never really looked into this as a possibility, since I've been focused on actuarial science. But since this internship opportunity came up sort of unexpectedly, I'm trying to envision what career paths this might lead to.
Perhaps jobs at affiliate networks?
Can somebody with experience chime in here?
