I have an online store connected to my teaching business, which has been running now for about 6 months. It has been slowly growing and now we'd like to add an Affiliate program. I don't have much experience with these programs, so we decided to make a list of features we'd like, then look for a program that had them.

The problem is that one function we'd like to have, we haven't been able to find. I was hoping others with more experience might some suggestions on which systems to look at. Our shopping cart is X-Cart, so it would be nice if it were compatible.

I'd like to be able to offer the affiliate a percentage commission and the customer also a percentage discount on a sale. So both the affiliate and the customer benefit from the affiliate's website link. That's it.

This is obviously a feature that few are interested in we realize, but it's something that we believe our clients would want if possible.

Thanks

Is there a way to offer coupons with x-cart?

That way, you could let the customer enter a coupon code to get his/her discount first.

Then upon sale, the affiliate will get his share of whatever the discounted price was.

    Cheers,

      Thanks Anthony,

The X-Cart does allow coupons. I hadn't really considered that. The only problem I guess is that the coupon codes could be easily copied, so I wouldn't be able to use different codes for each affiliate. I don't think I would ever need to do that though.

And I suppose that the reason external affiliate programs don't offer discounts to clients is because they would have to be integrated into the checkout process in order for the customer to get the rebate. It's too bad because I think X-Cart's program is quite limited.
