How Would You Do This?

I am in a similar scenario as the example I am going to give you now and would like some opinions of how you would do this if you were in my shoes so here goes.

Say for example you are a affilliate for a company that makes icemakers and lets say that icemakers are very new to the market and you are sure that in the next few years alot of people will buy these ice makers you sell.

Now lets say the company you are affilliated with has a website where people can buy the ice makers and if they insert a code that you give them then they will get a decent discount and that code also tracks that you made the sale.

My questions is would you send your traffic straight to the company website from your article resource box telling people that they can use the code for a discount or would you create a proffessional landing page with a sales letter or maybe a blog that does more pre selling and then send them to the main company website where they can choose from all the different models of ice makers that will suit their needs?

Thanks in advance for the help.

Cheers

Try both, split test and see which converts better. Pre-selling works best in most markets, but you never know.

Ha ha...should have seen that one coming. It's the one answer that every marketer is comfortable giving.

But it really is the ONLY answer. Even if someone was in this exact position with another company or another product, the market conditions are always changing. So the answer in an either/or question will always be "TEST".

Sending traffic to a well written landing page will get you the email addresses of your prospective customers so you can follow up those that don't buy right away. You will also have built a list to forward details of complimentary products and sell to that list for years to come. It also gives you the chance to pre-sell the prospect by doing a review or comparison in your own words, which may be better than the product's own sales page.

I was thinking more of going the landing page route since I can build a list that way and also since the company website itself isn't geared towards internet sales so there really isn't a sales page.
To outsource a landing page what kind of cost am I looking at?

The most popular article directories don't allow affiliate links in your resource box.

The suggestion would be to point article readers to your website or blog which offers another article or free report you've written. Then simply include the affiliate link somewhere inside the article or report where appropriate.

    Hope this helps.
