How to convert from being an affiliate to being a vendor?

Long time no hear.

I've been an affiliate for the past year or so and earned quite a bit of money. However, now I'd like to be a vendor.

As an affiliate, all I had to do is create my tracking link and plug it in somewhere on my website, PPC, etc.

As a vendor, things are (obviously) different. I'd appreciate if anyone could answer any of these questions:

1) How to set up order processing i.e. credit card processing and embed it in the website?
2) How to handle product delivery? Do people still prefer having DVDs shipped to them, or being able to download a product?
3) How to track affiliates/sales (what software)?
4) Do people nowadays prefer videos, or would a good ol' eBook still work?

Thanks guys!

I would make it easy for yourself and produce a digital product and sell it through clickbank.
They take care of the tracking and payments for you.

While you get your feet wet doing this look at createspace and kunaki to gain an insight into the world of dvds and shipping. It's quite a learning curve.

1.- Clickbank takes care of it...
2.- Again clickbank takes care of it...I think that digital versions sell more if you remember the
customer that they are saving on shipping costs...
3._ Again clickbank takes care of it...
4.- I think videos have more value for people...but still ebooks can work...

    Thanks to both of you.

Still, I'd like to make my product available to affiliates outside clickbank as well. If I set up a ClickBank website/product, can I still promote my product through other CPA networks (Azoogle, MaxBounty, Hydra) ?

Clickbank is loved by many ...but there are
a lot of problems with trusting some other
    business to run your business.

    For example, affiliate management, refunds,
chargebacks, etc. you have no control
over huge portions of your business.

It's a little like having a franchise and living
under their rules. There are definitely
advantages to the franchise model but you
need to understand the limitations as well.

eBook versus Printed Book? Do both.

Selll the eBook and then up sell into the
printed version and you'll find this is a the
easiest path to 35% additional revenue
    (or more).

If you are going to sell a product on clickbank you will have to build your own buzz about it first. Otherwise, it flops.

So many people think that it is like a magic button. You know, make a product, throw it up on clickbank and watch the money roll in. This is not the case.

You have to make sure that you get people and affiliates interested before you launch.

-And a whole mess of other things

This will build a small amount of buzz about it. But then you have to make sure you have a decent gravity rating or affiliates will just pass it by (I know I do anyway). That is why sales copy is so vital. You really want to dish out a little money for this unless your a word wizard yourself.

There are so many factors that come into play. I learned this the hard way.

    Good luck!

This is why I am trying to avoid clickbank. I'd have to create less buzz with a different CPA network.

So - does anyone have any experience of being an advertiser for Azoogle, Maxbounty, Hydra, etc?
