Starting Coaching Program - Content Protection Ideas Anybody??

Hey guys,

So I'm starting a coaching program for various different things. I need a system that will allow only those who purchase to create accounts, and protect the content within from anybody who isn't registered. I've seen a few Joomla extensions but I was able to backdoor into my site with almost every one of them.

I know with Joomla you can set user groups and have the content show that way, so Joomla wouldn't be a bad option. It's going to be personal coaching that is somewhat pricy, so I'm not worried about those who join giving out the information, because well, it'd defeat the purpose of them paying for it.

I'm open to any platform, Wordpress, Joomla or a third party software.

I know Rapid Action Profits will do this, but it requires the membership plus addon and paypal addon.

Anybody have any other suggestions or setups that they use?

Input appreciated guys!

Joomla's a very good choice for a membership site (if you know what you're doing)

As you mention, a lot of the extensions for controlling member sign-ups and access can let non payers into the site. And I personally found that the ones that did stop non-payers accessing the site had a terrible work flow - "they made the user jump through hoops to join and some were even a 6 step process just to join."

However there is a way to stop the non payers and that requires creating a script for joomla that automatically activates users upon payment and not registration. And then automatically blocks / de-activates the user when a recurring payment fails.

This also requires a few php modifications in other areas of joomla such as the default registration.

I created my own script for joomla that does exactly what I wanted. And the script works without fault on my sites, the script controls the access, doesn't allow non payers, has a short, quick and easy sign-up process for the front end user "which is important" and it's all automated.

PM me and I'll show you how it's done.

Try DELAVO it has a lot of awesome feature, and it very easy to build a membership site with it.

Wordpress is pretty powerful and easier to use than Joomla (IMHO).

Use a membership plugin like Wishlist and you are all set.

Use Joomla, I made mistakes using wordpress previously. Joomla is only for hardcore membership websites. There are plenty of good plugins for Joomla. Its easy to post content and manage members from backend. Also its easy to keep backups. IMHO, use Joomla with Kuena (free forum extension)
