A thought about squeeze pages, looking for feedback.

I have had a thought running through my head for the last few days. I would like to get your thoughts on it.

From my reading, I come to believe that Google does not have much love for squeeze pages. So they would be hard to get in any search results. If I am wrong, please let me know.

So I thought that why don't you/me, add content to the page(s) and try to get it on the search results? Obviously the squeeze would be front and center, but why not have an article below it, under the fold so that most people would not even bother to go see it. They would hopefully enter their name and email and be directed to your affiliate offer. But the content could maybe get you free search traffic. I would also have other pages with content on it so the site is not just a single page site. Maybe even have the squeeze on every page with the content below it.

Is this a stupid idea, or does it make sense? Inquiring minds want to know. I would appreciate your thoughts on this.

If you have a blog with an opt in box on every page and strong CTAs to subscribe, I think this is essentially the same thing if you do it right. With that in mind, yeah it works really really good.

    Thanks Colin,

That is a little bit different than I was thinking of, but I think your approach is better than what I was thinking about. I think I will try that method and see if I can make it work.

Yeah, I often wondered if you had a blog say for a particular product, and a squeeze page kind of theme, and then every post was a re-written squeeze. Then maybe have the homepage be scripted to show the best performing one split tested against the newest one.

That way, all your "failed" split tests end up as SEO content.

I dunno, that could be weird, but I bet it would work.

Feel free to try that idea too. Just give me credit.

I don't know whether you have seen the newest version of my WSO as I changed up the landing page and sales letter yesterday.

However there I am using a WP plugin called WP Tabs Slides
Wordpress Tabs Slides | Blog Abdul Ibad

    It isn't perfect...

I hacked the CSS a little
It isn't ideal for accessibility because it defaults to hidden
I couldn't get a link within the content to open a next tab
By default it uses titles rather than IDs or named anchors (I hacked that a bit)

However using tabs or sliders is one way to have all the content on the page, make it accessible, indexable, and survive a human inspection, as long as you make it clear enough that something is meant to be clicked to reveal content.

There are some other potential advantages, but I still have to hack the code a little to test it.
