How to make ebooks availaible for download

Hey warriors I have at last completed writing my first ebook, and sales letter for it.

I have designed a download page, but I am think how do I make my ebook actually available for download.

Where should I upload it. Is there any server? Or should I have to upload it on my site?

Where:confused:

In it's simplest, you just upload your ebbok to your website, putting it into the same folder as your index file. Your download page is a page you make into which you create a link to the ebook. You also upload your download page to the same place.

When you create your Paypal button, you tell Paypal where and what is the download page, and it direcets buyers to that download page (the page you made with a link to the book).

Another method is to put the ebook into a .zip file using a program like 7-zip or winzip, and upload that zipped file to your website. Google can't index the contents of a zipped file, thus making it less likely people will find your ebook to steal it.

A third possibility is to buy a download management script like DL Guard, or sign up at ejunkie. You still upload the ebook to your site, but the management script controls the download.

    Does this help?

I use e-junkie, for a very modest fee (bargain in comparison to most) you can upload your ebook to their servers. It'll also collect e-mail addresses for you if you want to star a list.

Listen to dons advice above, very solid if you don't want to go the e-junkiw route.

I generally use the .zip method featured above. I see some others buiding their lists by sending the file as an attachment to an e-mail message after they have opted in of course.

I use WP eStore (Wordpress plguin) that manages digital delivery of products and payments through Paypal very well. It's $39 and well worth it.

This is how I do it.

First, turn your ebook into a pdf document.

Next, ftp it to the root domain of your server - so it's address is www.mydomain.com/myebook.pdf

The above is then your download link.

Set up your Paypal button and in the advanced options, send them to www.mydomain.com/myebook.pdf after they have paid.

Or you can email your customers this link. Make sure you add the .pdf extension to the link.

Not a good idea .. You cannot reveal the path of the file if you wish to make a profit selling it .. You will need to use a link cloaking script to handle that for you

Best look at the product called sitelok from vibralogix(dot)com

Best i have seen to handle these types of sales, its a highly advanced membership script with paypal IPN and will handle your site now and and any future growth you may achieve

My advice is to get a script like this ($40) and a dedicated download domain name eg) something(dot)com

        Install the script on something(dot)com

Add multiple files on the domain something(dot)com in a hidden folder

        eg) something(dot)com/woiropweripweoirpweor321525

The script will send a successful payment a link to the file but not reveal the path of the file and then deactivate the link after a set amount of time all configurable in the script

You can then point all your product downloads and membership links the this dedicated domain and you only need to purchase on licence to handle all of your products

        hope this helps

Why complicate things? Why make this part of IM so difficult? Ejunkie is easy, inexpensive and you don't have to worry about someone finding the path to your files and sharing them with the world or sending an email to anyone after they opt in to your list which can wind up ticking people off.

There is a WSO that just launched that covers this stuff and more. I don't want to seem like I'm pimpin' it but I did pick it up prelaunch and it's good and covers stuff like this...

            Sure it is easier .. However from an economical point of view you can pay a provider like e-junkie $5 p/m x 12 = $60 p/a x 2 = $120 for 2 years

            Purchase a single script @ $40 + domain x 2 years = $15 => $55

You are more than likely already paying for the hosting with my SQL

You will then for 1/2 the price have a product that you firstly own, have the ability to add unlimited items to, handles all of your purchases and potential membership / secure sections / download areas / freebee giveaways all in one place = building branding

But hey ... thats just me ...

      Khay,

It's $39/month? Couldn't you do the same thing with eJunkie, but at a fraction of the cost?

There are several download page protector scripts online like DLGuard or EZDownloadPageProtector which you can install on your web server. They can be customized and can be installed easily.

On the other side, you can use professional product management programs like AMember or Rapid Action Profits.

The above two are complex programs and requires good knowledge about web server functions. However if you want the best protection from online theft then these two are the most trusted along with DLGuard.

    I hope that helps you.

If I purchase Rapid Action Profits, will I still need something like SEO Press Formula? I'm a newbie, so still trying to figure out everything that's needed to not only do affiliate marketing, but selling a standalone product, build my first list, etc. Thx!

What price point are you selling this ebook at? It's definately worth setting up something with security so that you're hard work isn't found by google allowing everyone to get it for free.

Clickbank with DLguard may be your best option, but you'll probably need to hire someone to do all this technical stuff.

e-junkie.com is one of the best options, they have so many great features. Their pricing starts at only $5/month and they have a free trial as well.
