Question about PDF and Autoresponders

Hi Shannon,

Generally what people do in this situation is build a download page for the report you want to provide. Then set the Success Page in your auto-responder (the page that subscribers are sent to after they successfully verify their request by clicking the confirmation link sent to their email inbox) to point to the download page.

In doing this you don't have to actually send the PDF via email. After the subscriber completes the opt-in process, they are automatically taken to the download page where they can access the report.

It is good idea to put the download page in a strange titled sub-directory (such as /fgTH!dte!) and name the page something strange so it is hard for people to find without opting into your list.

Also, you can add some offers to your download page with affiliate links e.t.c which can sometimes bring in a few $$$

So you send the email to the list.

FTP it on your website and give them the download link.

Just realized you are probably referring to sending a broadcast to an existing list.

In that case, I would still use the download page method, and just embed the link to the page in your broadcast message to your list.

Thanks for your replies. I guess i should be more specific. I just want to put a PDF in my autoresponder and i am not sure how to do that nor am i sure about building a download page.

Do you know how to upload files to your web host via FTP? If so, the simplest way would be to upload the PDF to your website, and then include a direct link to it in your email message: http://www.yoursite.com/filename.pdf

When your subscribers click on it, it will open for them to read online, or if they want to download it to their hard drive they would right-click to save it.

That's how I usually do it - but if you don't know how to FTP something it takes a little more explaining!

Your autoresponder service should allow you to 'embed' an object (in this case a PDF) in your actual autoresponse.

Alternatively you can do as the other suggest, just have a link to where you have the PDF hosted (short term you could use the yousendit.com service)

Hi Shannon,
You can upload your report to your own website or any site that provide upload service like 4shared or uploadbox. Then you create a new broadcast message or a follow up message using aweber telling where the subscriber can download the report. Or you can simply attach/upload the report through aweber by creating a new broadcast or follow up message.

No problem what the file type are, you just need to upload it and telling the subscriber where they can download it.
