Is a Privacy Policy Really Important for SEO?

I have yet to put a privacy policy or TOS page on any of my sites and I'm thinking that I probably should. My question is, how important is it to Google to have those on a site. I've heard that even after a google slap you can make amends by having a privacy policy and/or TOS page on the site. Any experience with this topic is appreciated.

The more supplemental pages the better. And don't forget a contact us page. This was covered in the latest Google Webmaster Seminar.

They didn't specifically say a TOS or Privacy page...but they did mention a contact page and they said that the better the user experience, the better your page would be ranked. I think a TOS or Privacy page would make the user experience better.
