Assuming you employ offline marketing techniques where you list a phone number for people to call, would it be a wise move to plug a website as part of your answering machine/voice mail greeting so that whoever is calling can go right ahead and log on to purchase from your site?

Yeah it sounds like a good idea, I'd say yes! Some people will prefer to order online.

Every time I call my bank I get a recorded message plugging their website. Same goes for the video store, car dealership, etc. I'd say it is pretty common practice these days and for good reason.

Your answering machine being an automated salesperson for when your not there or on vacation. Might even be able to offer up a discount code or special of the day to see if people covert through this!

I used to sell and create Telephone on-hold messages.
I have one for my home business I created with website info
    music etc.
Someone calls I always put them on hold for a few seconds so they have to listen.
It also gives the illusion that you are in some kind of corporate office.
It also helps me collect my thoughts before answering the call.
