Is domain forwarding to affiliate offers effective?

Hey fellow warriors, this is my first thread post.

I'm not a complete newbie I guess, I've been on a quest for IM knowledge for nearly 2 years now, but haven't ventured wholeheartedly into anything yet.

I was wondering if anyone has any knowledge of, or experience with, domain forwarding to affiliate offers as a marketing method.

I was thinking about this yesterday as a way to circumvent the tasks of building a site, seo, ppc, writing articles, starting blogs, etc.

I was on godaddy checking out domain name availability ( I like to come up with lots of them and see if they're available, up until now kind of just for fun ). Then I decided to go over to clickbank and check out some products and see if I could create some available .com domain names related to these products, to use as a blog title or for a review type site, etc.

With the idea of domain forwarding still in mind, I went to the IM category and clicked on the sub-category of "domains", and lo and behold, the second or third product I found was a system about forwarding domains to clickbank products. It was one of those serendipitous moments that hasn't actually happened to me in a while!

Anyway, if anyone out there knows anything about this, please share the wealth!

Demian

Yes. I do it with a few typo type domain. eg. birtishairways.co.uk (thats not a real one by the way)

The problem is that using a 301 redirect you cant do any on-page optimisation, so you rely on off-page or people typing the URL wrong.

It breaks even for me, but no more. Curious to hear from others if they have any successfull strategies for this.

If the offer/product you're promoting has a high conversion rate without needing some type of pre-selling, then feel free to redirect the domain.

I don't recommend doing it for clickbank products because many times, people will think they are scams and want to read reviews on it. It's best to create your own page "preselling" the product before sending them there with your affiliate link.

For some CPA offers that are email/zip submits, there's no need to presell. You can either use a URL shortner for your link or buy a domain and redirect it.

Thanks for the advice about clickbank products. I hadn't thought of using this method for cpa offers, that's a great idea.

The other day i bought a ebook from the warrior special offer section which teaches affiliate marketing with domain forwarding method and it was a good read.

You can search it with the headline:

HOW TO MAKE OVER $5,100 EVERY MONTH ONLINE WITH FREE TRAFFIC!

Check it out if you want to start from somewhere.

Yes like stated above you can make money this way but more times than not this will be short term money. And it's very hard to keep that income going. In other words the article marketing or traffic generating tasks you use today will not continue to produce in the future. But to make a few bucks and get the ball rolling if you're dedicated and have a solid plan on how you're going to generate traffic this will work.

I agree with this. The problem is that you're depriving yourself of both of the two main things you need to develop an affiliate business: the ability to pre-sell and the ability to build a list. A few Warriors have made money that way, and if you're very good at product-selection it can be done, but it's not really building a business.

Welcome to the forum, by the way, Demian!
Thanks for the welcome, Alexa! I realize I won't be building a list or pre-selling, I'm just thinking of a way to get a few bucks coming in fairly quickly, then move on to promoting affiliate offers with blogs or review sites, or maybe even ppc.

I prefer a presale page and jazz up the product, so the user is ready to buy the product when they click on the link to the offer page, well in theory anyways
