Hello, i have a question about the amazon affiliate program.
Let's say i'm promoting a product from amazon on my blog. The visitor clicks on my affiliate link and buys another related product from amazon (because amazon suggests other related products on thier page). In that case will i get any commision?

As long as they purchase within 24 hours, you get a commission. The commission rate will be less than on the product you directly linked to though.

I don't know if the Amazon program in Germany (the OP's stated location), but in the USA this is not true.

If you read the operating agreement and the advertising fee schedule, you won't find anything differentiating purchases you link to and add-on purchases.

With some well-documented exceptions (computers, electronics, gift cards, etc.), Amazon simply adds up the number of items sold under your ID and uses that number to compute your commission rate.

In fact, if someone adds a product to their shopping cart within that 24 hour window, they have an additional 89 days to finalize the purchase. If they do, you still get the advertising fee (commission).

Obviously you will get a commission, provided the user makes a purchase within 24 hours after clicking your link. Only recently Amazon has reduced the cookie length to 24 hours. More over they give you only 4% commission initially. I guess it is better that you try out some other companies which provides a better commission and one month cookie length. Most of the other affiliate programs do provide one month cookie length.

Amazon Germany's commissions are also capped at I think 10 Euros at the moment, so even if you sell a 1000 EUR product with 4% commission you only get 10 Euros for it.

I never used amazon till a few months ago, although their 24hour cookie insnt very good. I do get quite a good conversion i think this is because they are well trusted.

I would say amazon is only good if you cant find other higher products to promote

    THanks

yup, like everyone said, you will get commission if it's within 24 hours. I would look for another option as 24 hours is sort of ridiculous but they are trusted so it's a catch 22
