Need WP Plugin Reviews - 3 Copies Available

Hey there,

Need some beta testers for a new wp plugin.

I'd like some seasoned war room members that are really into wordpress to USE and review the plugin in exchange for a free copy.

So you're probably wondering what the heck it does by now huh...lol

The plugin is called Posts on Pages and here's how it works....

You click on the admin for the plugin, and you give your new little project a name, so that you can easily identify it between the others that are listed.

You then enter the ID of the category of the posts that you want to show. A list of the categories with their ID's are displayed on the same page so there's no need to go back and forth.

You then tell it how many of the posts from the category you just specified that you want to show. If you leave it blank, it will show all of the posts in that specific category.

Next, you specify what order you want the posts to display.

1. Oldest first
2. Newest first
3. Specified Order

If you choose 3, you will then specify which posts that you want, in the order that you want them to show. (ex: 89, 4, 54, 1, 96)

Next you get to choose HOW you want the posts from the category that you selected, in the order you chose, to be displayed.

1. Full Post
2. Excerpt (Read More tag)
3. List (of Bulleted, hyperlinks)

Finally, you hit save, copy the shortcode that it automatically creates, and paste the shortcode anywhere in any page you choose.

So, now for an example to further clarify how this works.

Let's use cars for example.

Say we have a WP Blog about cars. Normally, we have the option to either use tags or categories to organize our posts, and if you choose to use pages, it is pretty much static, non changing content. Like a privacy policy, about us, etc...

Well, with our example car blog, we're going to create some pages to be displayed in the menu up top. Lets say we create 5 pages.

1. Cars
2. Trucks
3. Minivans
4. SUV's
5. Luxury

Now under cars, we create a dropdown sub category page. In fact, lets create 2.

1. Foreign
2. Domestic

Now under, for example Foreign, we create some more sub pages called...

1. Toyota
2. Honda
3. Mitsubishi
4. etc...

OK, you with me so far? It's just a heiarchy of pages right now in a drop down menu in the menubar up top.

Now wordpress 3.0 actually lets you put a category in the menu, but it's not very flexible with it. That's all it does.

What we could do in this situation is this.

We would create matching categories to the Pages that we have created.

Then we just go into the Posts on Pages admin, and create a new little project.

Let's say that we want to pull all posts about Honda Cars, on the Honda page (which is found in the menu under Cars->Foreign->Honda).

We might call it:

Honda Cars

We then look to see what the category id is (still on the same page) and enter in the category id from the matching, Honda Cars category that we also created.

Now we may choose to have the most recent posts to display first.

Next, we decide that we want ALL of the posts that are categorized in the Honda Cars category to show on the Honda page.

And finally we decide that we only want the excerpts to display, and choose excerpts from the list.

We press save, and copy our short code and head on to the Honda page in Under cars, foreign in the menu.

Instead of displaying all of the honda car posts on the page, lets say that we want to have an introduction, or some CPA car offer at the top.

So the honda page for cars, might look like this.
-------------------------------------
CPA OFFER

About hondas.... yadayada yada...

more content

pic

[[All the posts that correspond to the honda cars category will display here with the read more tag, starting with the newest first.]]

Another offer

more content

etc...
---------------------------------------------------

Now let's say we do the same thing for all the foreign cars.

What we can do now is create another shortcode (or you can use the same one), and this time we'll do the same thing, except we choose to use the list view.

So, now we can pull up the Foreign page for example, and do soemthing like this.

------------------------
About Foreign Cars

Banner or Adsense or Whatever

More Content

TOYOTA

[[Shortcode for the list version of toyota cars goes here]]

Honda Banner

HONDAS

[[Shortcode for the list version of honda cars goes here]]

Mitsubishi

[[Shortcode for the list version of Mitsubishi cars goes here]]

And everytime we write a new post about a foreign car and add it to the corresponding category, it will automatically be pulled in to the PAGE where you added the shortcode, in the manner you had specified.

----------------------------------------------------------

If this sounded confusing, I promise you it really isn't. It's a thousand times easier to do than it is to explain it, and a whole lot less time to do it than to read me telling you about it....lol

Also, you're not just stuck to clicking the page and viewing all the posts from a category using the wp 3.0 menu bar, as if they were being displayed on your homepage, in one order.

You can choose the order of the posts, specific posts to display, and choose from excerpts, the whole articles, or even just hyperlinks to the articles. On top of that you can add content, above or below the posts, and use multiple shortcodes to pull in different cateories on the same page (in any combination of the preceeding), and use it on as many pages as you'd like.

If you have any questions it, or don't quite understand soemthing I wrote, please don't hesitate to ask.

Also, please do not take this as me trying to sell this. While I will sometime shortly, this is NOT FOR SALE right now.

I just need some experienced WP users, and would like them to be War Room Vets if possible to use, critique and review the plugin.

Thanks in advance,
