Are you using classifieds to generate traffic?

Free traffic does exist, and since google adwords has become so hard to deal with, well that´s putting it mildly, we are looking for alternative sources of traffic. The optimal traffic is free traffic. That is obtainable with classifieds. We all know Craigs List and Backpage, but they are very restrictive when it comes to posting the same ad in several cities .. But there are alternatives:

Google Base
Oodle
OLX
Yakaz
Trovit

These sites allow mass postings via data feeds. Imagine posting to thousands or tens of thousands of cities simultaneously ... This is were I´m heading. Anybody got some input, creative ideas when it comes to classifieds, please share your techniques.

    I highly don't recommend OLX.

I've tried them in the past, and this is what happened:

    1)I paid for the ad
    2)They approved my ad
3)They removed my ad 2 days later (it was suppose to be up for 1 week)
4)Then kept my money, and told me to get lost

They are not a trust worthy company.

All classified networks mentioned should have free posting alternatives.

it's interesting but these classified sites don't have the traffic that craigslist does. too bad craigslist is hard to post in as a marketer

I've made a few sales with Craigslist, but you do have to be careful. It's best to post a couple of ads at a time, and change them up, don't use the same ads over and over. Then wait a couple of days before posting again, I still get some good traffic from there, so I still use it.

Actually I have had some decent success with Craigslist. Of course it is not my main traffic generation strategy, but posting just a couple of ads per day can add up to some decent traffic numbers over a month's time.

The key when advertising on Craigslist is to send traffic to a squeeze page where you give something away for free. Include an image in your ad, and also make sure to include a strong call to action.

This has worked pretty well for me!
