What do you want your visitors to do?

Hey Guys

It's vitally important that you know EXACTLY what you want your site visitors to do when they arrive at your site.

Do you want them to click an affiliate link?

Cool. But are you using every trick in the book to encourage them to do that? And do you have other links that detract from that goal? Get rid!

Or maybe you want them to subscribe to your newsletter?

Great. But what incentives are you giving them and is the mechanism as simple, slick and unambiguous as it can be? Are you assuring them of their privacy and telling them what they can expect from you? And do you have other stuff on there that's leading them away from that goal?

Or maybe you want them to join your membership site.

Excllent. But why have you got Adwords on there too? They're simply taking people away from your site for pennies.

It takes a bit of time to train youself to do this right and here's a good way to learn. When someone on the WF asks for a site review, clear your mind then click through to their site with one thing on your mind - what do they want me to do?

See if you can work out what it is that site is trying to get you to do then notice all the other distractions and parephenalia that's detracting from it. You'll learn a lot yourself and help a fellow warrior in the process, when you give them your feedback.

And when you're making changes to your own site, make EVERY pixel count towards your goal. There's no room for free-loaders!

Hope it helps.

Cheers,

Neil

Having said all that, there is nothing wrong with having a site where
prospects have multiple options. If they're put together correctly, they can
    be very profitable.

Absolutely true and a perfectly valid model of course.

I guess I'm saying that whatever action (or actions) you want your visitor to take, hope, luck and guesswork shouldn't play a part in it.

Absolutely correct. Have a plan and be prepared to modify that plan if
things don't go exactly as you expected.

For example, I found that adding a products page to one of my blogs
and promote IT instead of individual articles on my blog brought me more
sales even though it's not as finely targeted. Possibly because of more
      choices.

Without getting actual feedback, naturally that's just a guess. But it
can't be a coincidence that since putting up that page, sales increased.

Also, putting Adsense on my blog did not decrease sales but did give me
      an additional income source.

Conclusion: Those who weren't going to buy from me weren't going to buy
from me period and not having Adsense wasn't adding them to my sales
or opt ins. So might as well get something out of it.

But you don't discover these things unless you test them out and track
the results. And the beauty is, whatever you do, you can undo...most of
      the time.

I just want them to take out their wallet immediately and give me all their money.

I don't want to give them anything, I don't want to entertain them, I don't want to know anything about them.

        How do I do that?
