YouTube: how to update existing video?

Is it possible to replace/update video on YouTube keeping all old metadata (title, tags, description, etc) in tact?
Or do I need to delete old video and create brand new one somewhat losing ranking, "maturity", old URL, organic traffic, etc.. ?

I uploading "how to" instructionals about my software and sometimes will be updating tutorials to accomodate for new features. So i wonder how to approach existing yet outdating videos.

Well, i might do just that. Deleting old video doesn't make any sense.

As far as I know it's not possible. I've never been able to update existing videos and have been forced to delete and start over. Frustrating.

yeah... i don't think you can update videos. Better to upload a new one... don't delete it unless you are getting bad reviews and thumbs down...

My strategy is to make quick to-the-point videos that are around 3 minutes in length. You don't want to put everything you have to say in one video... split them up and target more keywords in your video titles and you will make more money.

I don't think it is possible to update a video.. maybe edit it but you might lose its ranking cos it will be a new one. I've to agree to just create part 1, 2, 3 etc or just create a title for the series of videos.

You can't update the uploaded video itself; (yet -- outside of slicing out pieces of it like the linked tutorial shows); but, you can edit the annotations for the video. This would allow you to put an annotation on the old video pointing out that there's an update to it.

You can also do a video response to the original video.

Personally, I choose to do both just to make sure nothing is missed.
