Wordpress experts: Rotate Header Images?

I am using NextGen gallery I know there is a way to use the "slideshow" function in a header so that you can set it to rotate the header image at intervals, like every 5 seconds or something. I just can't figure out where and how to put code into WP files.

Has anyone done this before. i can't seem to find a simple tutorial on how to do it.

Nextgen plugin uses this: JW Image Rotator

And I have all of that installed, just can't figure out where to put what code.

From what I see here:

you have to:
"embed the rotator in your HTML page with this line of code."

Let's say you want to put that code in the header of every page. You go the folder wp-content/thems/current-theme-folder
and edit the file header.php. Depending on the place you want to put, you have to edit a php file from the current theme's folder.

I tried doing that and couldn't make it work. Maybe I put the code in the wrong place.

there should be a way though to put [slideshow,ID,width,height] somewhere and it should work. I've tried lots of things but nothing seems to work.

nothing displayed, just white space. but I was not doing it correctly. once i figure it out I'll do a video on how to do it. I wish there were one out there! Another seemingly simple thing that is taking way too long.

One simple way to see if you put in the right place is to add the text 'xxxxx' near that inserted code. If you don't see even xxxxx on your site, it means that you are editing the wrong file.

I was inside the header.php file, just don't know where to put the embed code.

If you send me your current theme (or the link to it if it's a generic one) and the location where you want to embed the code (header, footer etc) I'll send you the modified php file.
