After some long, hard thinking about what has succeeded the most in every investment opportunity I have been privy to one thing stands out and has always stood out.

Building relationships is #1 in a successful business. You hear the cliche all the time " It is all about who you know." That is true, but misguided.

It is not necessarily about who you know, but really what they know about you.

Think about it... It really is all about who you know and what they know about you.

That is why it is called a relationship.

    Hi Dave,

    For me, it goes beyond business networking to building relationships with my customers too. It is a different kind of relationship, but an essential ingredient nonetheless. I've got customers who not only send me birthday cards, but a few even send my wife birthday cards and they only know her from what I've written. I'm talking real cards too, not ecards.

    Another dear lady wrote and told me she willed her quotation book collection to me because she knows I collect them. You know your doing well when your customers not only buy your products, but remember your birthday and send you cards and write you into their will.

    That's a testament to the power of relationships.
