Advice about pen names

Hi there,
I'd be interested to hear peoples thoughts on pen names for articles...
I have separate pen names for each site that I own and I use that pen name for all articles distributed for link building purposes.
Do you think it's a good idea to use more than one author name for mass article distribution?

Has anyone experienced duplicate content penalties come into play for tons of unique articles under one author name?

Thanks in advance
Eleanor

If you post duplicate content under the same pen name, it's fine. Even Ezinarticles accepts it! The only problem is if you publish them under different pen names.

Of course, if you work on several niches, use a different pen name for each.

    Does that answer your question?

Definitely post under the same name,
That way it doesn't seem as if you're trying to hide something.

    Thanks for your responses.

I am aware that Ezine accepts similar articles under the same name as it bases it's duplicate content on author names. I.e. It'll say this content it attributed to another author.

I am just wondering if posting UNIQUE articles under the same author name is a problem after significant submissions/time.

Also, has anyone experienced any positives from using different author names for the same site?

Why would it appear as though I was trying to hide something?
    Thanks
    Eleanor

I use two different pen names. One is for my bum marketing efforts, and the other for articles I am looking to sell. I tend to put much more emphasis on grammar in my articles for sale so I want to associate them with a different name.

The question was answered. Many marketers use several pen names.

However, the pen name is usually associated with the niche/site, not created for the article directory submissions.

So - if you submit an article to EZA under a certain name - keep that name on the article everywhere you submit the article.

Ok, I think my question is a little more complicated than I intended it to be! My bad. I jsut wanted to ask if anyone has seen any benefits of using multiple pen names with services like UAW for the same site?

I think you are over complicating it.

Yes, I use pen names for UAW, for EZA, etc - AND on some of my websites.

I do it because the niche needs a male name or because I don't want the niche associated with my other sites - many reasons. Sometimes I just feel like making up a new name when I go into a new niche.

Everything I do for THAT niche is in THAT pen name. EZA, UAW - doesn't matter. If I'm writing in that niche, I use that same pen name.

You could use different names but I don't see any benefit and it doesn't help brand the pen name in that niche. If I create a pen name to better suit a specific niche - I want to brand that particular name as "knowledgeable" on that niche topic. To do that means using that name for all writing/submitting for that site.

      Does that make more sense?

Most lucid explanation I've seen on the subject. One question: does that mean I should adopt a female pen name for certain niches?

I think you should. It definitely helps. That's what I did and had good results. I adapt my pen names to my niches and potential customers. It's important in my opinion.

Yeah that makes sense. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing out on extra income or any other benefits by using one pen name per site. I've heard that some people use different names so I just wanted to see if there was something i was missing! I'm not new to marketing online but always looking for new approaches, but I guess I'm doing all I can with article pen names for now!

Seems like I'm over thinking it.... As usual! Haha!

    Thanks for your thoughts!

Eleanor - I know what you mean.

When you see someone advising "this" as a good idea - a great question to ask them is "what benefit have you had from doing that'.

I've found a great majority of them answer "well, haven't tried it yet - but I heard that...."
