Updating WP That Has Been Customized - Will It Mess Up My Site?

Hi!

I have a Wordpress site which has been modified a bit to be used for my site. This may be a bit of a question - but how do I do the WP updates? Will it mess up anything that has been customized?

I have been putting off updating for awhile for fear of ruining it - but I want to be able to keep it updated.

It was installed via Fantastico - and it says not to update if the files have been modified - so I am just not sure what to do!:confused:

    Google "wordpress automatic upgrade plugin". I'd give you the link, but I can't post urls til I reach 15 posts, sorry.

    Once you install that plugin, you can upgrade wordpress with a few clicks and it won't mess up your customizations.

    It should only become a mess if you updated core files.
    If all your updates were on the template or to the individual plugins then you should be ok.
    Backup your present install including the database and then do your new install in a folder.

    If something goes wrong you have your backup to return things to normal.
