Is it worth trying to monetize this site?

About three years ago I set up a website offering information and a Free Report about hypoglycemia (low blood sugar). The site is The best diet for hypoglycemia.

I also started a blog but after an iniital rush of enthusiasm it fizzled out and I hadn't posted anything for about a year (until today when I made a new post).

What has prompted me to think about possibly monetizing this site is the fact that I am getting more and more emails from people who have downloaded my Free report, asking for extra advice. They seem to perceive me as an expert on hypoglycemia.

Traffic seems to be increasing to the site and blog, despite the fact I haven't touched it for over a year. I did a Google search for 'best diet for hypoglycemia' and my site is on page one!

I have a list of about 1500 people who have downloaded the free report. I have never followed them up, apart from those who have emailed me with questions. I'm now getting one or two questions per week.

The point is, I don't want to put a lot of time and effort into trying to monetize this site if the potential is too low. I am already making a good income from my main business as a web designer. But if I am overlooking something that is a potential business opportunity, then naturally I would like to try and take advantage of it.

The obvious options are to write an e-book and sell it, or start a membership site. But I'm not convinced I would make enough from either of those to really justify it. I could also sell products from the site as an affiliate.

The bottom line is, I don't want to try and monetize this site unless it has major income -producing potential, otherwise I'm just taking valuable time away from my existing web business. So it would need to be able to produce at least $5000 a month to make it worth doing.

Hmm! interesting said "Chico" walking round on bended knees smoking his cigar!

    Merchandising!

--- ok, enough of the funnies.

Write an ebook - you don't have to do it yourself, why not post it on elance etc and have someone else do the skeleton for you and then you just finish it off by putting the meat on the bones, so to speak.

Start up a membership site, $5000 a month, do the math, 100 members paying $50 per month would cover it.

The fact you are getting more and more emails, means there is more and more demand for the information.
Baby Boomers are living longer with more and more now being prone to this sight stealing disease. Monetize it so that when your eyesight fails, you can afford the best screen reading program there is and still advise those with failing eyesight ..... What a hook eh?

That's one awesome thought, even though I said it to myself!
