What should I do to get traffic?

Article marketing is great if you're just starting out and want traffic. Write short articles 350-500 words with keywords that you have found through research. Go for words that have low competition and submit them to article directories. In the resource box, link back to a landing page where you can promote your own products or affiliate products.

Hi, using a signature in forums, using craigslist, articles, submitting your url to directories, search engines, and posting comments on other blogs in your area. These would be great ways to start getting traffic.

I have IM now for about 2 months and probably like you overwhelmed with the info online to market your business, i neglected forums initially but i think like the others said are a great place to meet people. Just edit your signature.

To start though you need simple traffic, if you have a good splash page put it out there on the traffic exchanges, this has gotten me several signups since i started doing this 3 weeks ago. Once you get into a routine and several signups try safelists everyone seems to say they are no good.

With safelists join some and see what headlines others use that make you click on there message to give you some ideas for your subject line for your safelist mailing. From there you will need a good squeeze page to get people to want to give you there name and email, try a squeeze page with free downloads/reports seems to work well.

As i said i am only new to, and have had more success with these two systems than being confused with the dozens out there. Once i have gotten into a routine with traffic exchanges and safelists I will add another advertising medium to my business which is hopefully article marketing. There are some excellent posts on this forum on article marketing and how to get it noticed.

After reading this website for the past 2 weeks, I finally started using a signature and posting on forums the day before yesterday. I posted on just 1 forum- only 3 sincere posts and yesterday I got 22 unique hits. Thats HUGE for me! Now what if I took an hour and posted on 10 forums...Just think!
There's an awful lot of good suggestions here.

Create a sitemap for your website and submit that to Google Webmaster Tools. Write original articles and submit that to article directories. What also works for me is to get someone to do social bookmarking (I don't have much time so I just hire someone to do this. Price range is usually $10 for every website to be submitted to 500+ social bookmarking websites). I also write press releases and then submit that to various PR directories.

Guys within 2 hrs I have learned a lot from your post. Your suggestions would really help me a lot. Thanks. I hope someone would post some more ideas.

Write a short pdf report and give this away for free. Put your website link inside. As more people pass it around your website will get more exposure.

Also, as mentioned already, put a link in your signature when you post on forums.

Contact other websites that are related to yours. Ask whether the owners would be willing to link to you if you link to them. You'll be helping each other this way.

Also, visit Ebay and look for shop owners that sell things related to your site. Again, ask whether you could link to each other. Ebay gets an awful lot of website traffic.

Do the same for blog owners.
