Do You Prefer to Promote a ClickBank Product with Low Gravity?

Hi Guys

Many thanks to everyone who took part in my Poll on the use of Opt-ins on ClickBank Sales Pages. If you missed it, it's here ...

http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...oduct-opt.html

I would now like to canvass the opinions of CB Affiliates on their approach to the ClickBank Gravity stat. I fully understand why CB products may be lucrative whilst having a Low Gravity.

There have been a number of previous posts on the matter of gravity discussing the fact that low gravity products may be equally as good to promote as high gravity. I have already read a few such posts and found them to be very interesting.

But what I am particularly interested in is this: if you PREFER to promote Low Gravity products, why?

The gravity counter can be quite deceptive, it is not neccesarily indicative of the number of affiliates selling the product, or its quality, it can mean that the ebook is really hard to sell, with a huge amount of affiliates leaving and new ones replacing them, driving up the gravity level.

There is also the little matter of advertising agencies with their own affiliates ready to promote if the product owner aggrees to a profit split between them and the product launch manager or whatever you want to call them.

Just because an item has low gravity, does not mean it is a bad product, just that whoever created it isn't well known, or the niche isn't that big. An example would be Travis Sago who coined Bum marketing, he created that "Magic of Making Up" ebook and because he has a good rep, people are naturally inclined to promote.

Plus, alot of IM guides advise the reader that you should only promote high gravity products. I personally promote low gravity products because generally speaking, there is little competition as a result of the above advice, meaning more money for me

Yes I will and that is because I will have less competition and with less competition it will be easy for me to make money with less effort.

I choose what I promote based on the quality of the product and the honesty of the sales page.

If the product delivers what the sales page offers then I can promote it with credibility and enthusiasm. Gravity just lets me know that the product is selling.

More often than not, I find it indicative of a poor affiliate retention rate, which = HARD to make sales since alot of affiliates are giving up and new ones coming in to replace them since nearly all IM guides advise to promote only high gravity products.

On balance I prefer a low gravity product.

The reason is that gravity on clickbank is pretty meaningless. Take article marketing for example. What matters is the number of people who see your article, the CTR of that article, and then the conversion rate of your landing page or the sales page of the vendor. Those statistics determine the sales and profit you'll make. Nothing to do with gravity!

So if I see a product on CB and I find out that the conversion rate is good, I'll consider promoting it. If there are 2 products on CB with good conversion rates, and 1 has a low gravity and one has a high gravity, I'll grab the one with low gravity!

Also I shy away from the high gravity products because it generally means that it will have been hyped up to a lot of IMers, and so customers will probably have been spammed silly with it.

Also I don't like promoting them because the terrible truth is that most people fail with affiliate marketing - so it's generally a better strategy to avoid that which the majority of people are doing!

    Regards

    Francis

I used to be on the "high gravity" bandwagon when I first started, but I later figured out that gravity has very little to do with the quality of the product, or the conversion rate. I am currently promoting a Clickbank product that has a gravity under 15, and is making me a nice monthly income.

Often times low gravity means and easy sell, even though most affiliates believe the opposite.

I prefer to promote clickbank products of which the gravity are around 10 because I find that they are easier to convert.

Gravity is fairly irrelevant. It doesn't matter how many other affiliates are promoting a product or how many sales are being made. The only thing that matters is which product will convert best using the affiliate promotion techniques I use.

What you'll find is most inexperienced affiliates will always chase those products with high gravity - they have been led to believe that these are the products that are easiest to sell. So they then promote and the gravity goes up even further and the cycle continues.

Gravity is a lot like the odds when betting on horses. Gravity goes up and down dependent on what others are doing (betting) and even though there are favorites, they don't always win.

I pretty much ignore gravity if I have already got a new niche on the go.

If I am looking for something new, I will dig into the deeper echelons of lower gravity products to find a gem or two.

But the majority of the time, I pay very little attention to gravity.

In fact I would advise most people to base their promotional decisions on anything BUT gravity..

The weather, the wind direction, hunger, thirst... anything but gravity. It's a figure that is often falsely inflated and doesn't really give you much of a picture about anything important anyway.

After reading this, I should probably change my strategy a bit. I'm on the high gravity bandwagon too.
