This forum will not make you a single penny

It's true. Being on this forum will not make you a single penny, never mind a dollar or thousands of dollars. It's a misconception that so many of us (including me) have.

What I mean by all of this is that endless trawling of this forum is not in itself productive. I do it too much and I suspect I'm not alone. I often think that I'll do some 'money making' work and somewhere along the way I end up on the forum. Before I know it I've spent quite a lot of time here and in reality I've done nothing useful. Sometimes I think being on here is an avoidance technique which many use to rationalise not taking direct action towards building our businesses. We use it to be around the business but not actually in the business

As I say this forum will not make you a single penny if you simply drift around it with no specific intention.

Where this forum will bring you money is if you take one of the myriad of advice pieces and actually deploy it. The world does not pay you for what you know, it pays you for you do with what you know.

But if like me this translation into action gets to be the hard part I'm going to give you some advice from a millionaire who was flat broke who at times had to sleep in public bathroom in San Francisco. The guy is called Chris Gardner who was made famous as the subject of the movie The Pursuit of Happyness.

I came across and old article while clearing out some papers which gave me renewed faith and found me some advice I'm going to share with you.

Often warriors give sound piece of advice about taking massive action. It's sound advice but if you're like me you're just not wired up to do it - yet! In fact for many the thoughts that often occur when you see the phrase massive action is to simply stay where you are. In effect you freeze (or you go and buy another WSO).

So if you find yourself in this situation I'm going to share with you the advice that Gardner gives. I also want you to take heart from it because he is now a multimillionaire and he advocates it.

Baby steps count

That's it. You don't need to take massive action all in one go. If you think about it differently and break donw your work into a series of baby steps that you can consistently deliver on you will ultimately have taken massive action at a level you can cope with. This is very important that you break it down to a level that you can remain motivated to deliver on. Yes you will go a lot slower than the $1000 overnight type products but if you already own a stack of those and they haven't got you anywhere then maybe it's time to admit you need to think again about how you're going to get there.

I once saw this advicee given the analogy of moving a super tanker. The tanker may only move 1 or 2 degrees from it's original course but 20 or 30 miles later it will be in a very different place that had it remained on it's original bearing.

So go on, shut down the forum and break one of your existing projects into baby steps that you can cope with so that they are almost invisible and implement each one a step at a time and keep on going.
