thanks for proving my point I mean just look at this video from YouTube did the exposure that they're getting I bet they do not even know about this forum but yet here they are being featured in a post.

See, it's complex.

I've tried a few YouTube promos but they haven't been effective for me, traffic, but not so much in sales. I had a corporate customer about ready to commit to a campaign that would have probably gone viral but they chickened out at the last minute and we pulled it within hours of it going live, too bad.

Here's a good example of an incident going viral and then being used in multiple campaigns for the venue where it happened and the laughing man...

I am just starting with some forum posting. Tomorrow I will write some articles and submit to a few directories. I was thinking about a free press release, but don't really know how to write one of those.

I was going to post the ebook to some ebook directories. I also planned to get some web 2.0 pages up too.

From there not sure where to go.

This is always the part that gives me the most trouble.

Use the search function and you will find a lot of useful information. I have posted a few traffic generation topics to this forum myself, so here I will just give you a quick run down of what I did to build a list:

-article marketing
-classified ads
-forum posting
-powerpoints uploaded to slideshare.net
-submit pdf's to document sharing websites such as Scribd and Docstoc.

Just a rough outline, but should help you get started.

I would start with PPC to test for any interest and conversions, if that works then I would focus a little on SEO but a lot on link building using link wheels or mini nets etc.

In the beginning I do a bit of everything then focus on what works, it's not just about traffic but the quality of your list will make a difference on your income.

Find a traffic method you're most comfortable with and give it all you've got, pay others to do things you don't like to do. Try to keep it simple, it's easy to get overwhelmed.

I definitely focus around Facebook and YouTube to drive traffic. Lately in my business as I have been focusing around building social communities so that will be the best way to drive traffic to my opinion with my new business direction.

ppc would be the fastest way to drive traffic if you don't know how to use ppc and you can't afford a guru's course just google adwords google has maybe hundreds of pages of ppc tutorials study it once your passed the learning curve you should be good to go with a decent advertising budget of course

Remember to focus and don't try to do many things at once.. everything takes time and getting mass traffic doesn't mean you will be making any money. Well, at least your in the right place to start your game. Good luck!

Here's the routine that you may want to do:
1) article marketing - write articles per day and submit them to article directories
2) blog commenting - search for blogs on the same niche
3) Video Marketing - You may post video in your blogs and youtube
4) Forum posting

You should try article marketing, forum posting, blog commenting, guest blogging. Those are free methods, but if you implement those thing consistently, you will see the results eventually. Of course it depends on the type of product that you are offering, it should be helpful to a lot of people as well. Start building your list too. It's the only way to build a long-term business.Your list is your asset online.

You can also list it in Clickbank and attract affiliates by offering generous commissions. You can also do some joint ventures by contacting a big list owner and tell them to promote your product to their list in exchange for a very generous commissions. Make sure to contact the list owner in your niche only. That way, you will be able to see the results fast and build your list fast as well without spending any money with PPC etc..

What are you trying to sell?
Who is your target audience?
What are the goals for you and your site? (quick cash vs becooming an authority)
What if any personal experince do you have in getting traffic?
What resources do you have more of - time or money?
Do you enjoy crunching numbers or creating content?
