Hi,
I'd be interested to hear anyones opt-in strategy? I'm currently in the process of testing some different methods at the moment with a couple of dummy campaigns.

If you do article marketing etc and offer a free course link, do you place the opt-in box on the first page, and then link to a review of the product? Or straight to the affiliate link? Or straight to the free course or deal you have just offered?

Just interested to see if anyone has any feedback and preferences?

I have a simple squeeze page as the home page for my domain. I want to make sure that I capture the names and email addresses of as many people as possible.

Once the person opts in and confirms their subscription, I send them straight to their free report. I don't bother trying to sell someone something right off of that bat. Although I am going to soon offer an OTO (one time offer).

HI, I take them to a sales page, with an aweber optin box. The video on the page catches them and I have the opt in box hovering just below it, here it is: The Conduct KNOCKOUT Broadcast Interviews System Good luck,Thanks, Ed

I don't even send them to a capture page - why add an extra unneeded step?

All you have to do is tell them to send you an email to your list name from your autoresponder - that way you have higher conversions with fewer steps.

For example, if you are going to offer a free course you can say something to the effect of:

To get your free course on how to ........ simply send me an email to "yourlistname@yourautoresponder.com" and I will shoot it right over to you.

That way you have eliminated the need to create a capture page you don't even know will convert.

Just another strategy I thought could help...

The way you know a capture page will convert is through testing.
Any good marketer will test and retest until the results are satisfactory (or close to it).

I don't view sending them to a capture page as an extra step. I understand what you are saying, but if someone is not willing to submit their name and email, and then go check their inbox to confirm then they are probably not an interested prospect anyways.

I actually prefer this double opt-in process, because it allows you to somewhat qualify the people that are on your list. I used single opt-in for a long time, and even though I got a few more "leads" I made less money because the leads were not as qualified.

My squeeze page is a mini-sales page, with the opt-in form on the page itself. Some PLR and call to action for the teaser. It converts well.

YMMV depending on who you are sending to the squeeze page. E.g. If i paid for rubbish traffic ala $10 per 1k visitors I'll get a rubbish conversion rate. So buying good traffic makes a big difference.

Have you tested the conversion on this method, Orlando? Interesting.

    I use a similar strategy mlord10.

I use one capture page and when someone subscribes they receive a bundle of ebooks along with a series of autoresponder emails.

I also link up to my squeeze page via a text image and call to action posted on my blog.

I try to create my squeeze page so that most, if not all, of it is "above the fold" If I can't capture my readers attention with that little bit of real estate, then it will be harder to do it with a lot of text.

I try to make my headline as compelling as though I were selling something for money.
