Isn't it funny that people who complain about traffic never have a signature in their profile

I just find it quite funny that some people are on one of the largest internet marketing communities they complain about all sorts , this is dead , that doesn't work e.t.c yet they got less than 10 posts and no signature. If you try your best to provide good content on here or if you are a newbie ask engaging questions that you need answers to and make sure you have a signature linking back to your website, you will definitely start getting some highly targeted traffic just from this forum.

Not everybody wants to make money selling to other internet
marketers. There are thousands of niches out there.

Some of us are just here to learn, hang out with other IMers
and pass on a bit of our own IM wisdom.

If everybody did what you said and only joined this forum
so they could sell in their signature link then it would be a
    pretty crappy forum.

And as it stands I believe this forum is getting bombarded
with about a thousand new users a day that just want to
create an account and write spam posts just to show off
    their sig link.

If you're selling something good in you sig then good on you
however most people are just selling crap which is why I
rarely click on sig links myself.

I never said anything about your website or your sig link. And I'm
sorry if you got the impression that I was "blasting" you.

I was merely commenting on people only joining to sell in their sig
        link.

And I said that if you've got something good in your sig link then
good on you, but a lot of people don't. And yes quality posts should
be a given but again as we've all seen this forum gets a hundred posts
a day from people saying. "good post".

What's even "funnier" is when people come and complain about not being able to drive traffic, then ask for the best and cheapest way to drive traffic, and in their sig, it reads: "Drive tons of traffic to your website for free using social media... click here now!"

Mike I see this way too often. Why do people sell something they dont do or get in Internet Marketing. Often people approach me to joint venture and I ask, so you teach make money online, tell me about the money you made outside teaching. It is a conversation killer. I understand if you start making money then goto teach like John Reese, but if you only make money from teaching others to make money, it is what gives this industry a bad name.

I dont fall into these people Altough

I disagree too ... once you are successful you may want to 'give something back'. Once someone makes the amount of money they need for the lifestyle they want, they will probably get more 'happyness' from helping others (even for a fee) than cranking out more money.

The fact of the matter is that a signature link can be a nice source of additional traffic, but you must provide quality content within your posts, and also when someone clicks on your signature link.

I agree that people seem to be spamming the forums more frequently now, but after they do it a few times and either get called out for SPAM, or no one buys there stuff then they just move on.

I am not too worried about the spammers. If you have good information that can benefit the community then I see no problem using forums to market your products or services.

However, I don't thing that a signature is necessary for everyone, and as another poster stated many people are not even trying to make money in the internet marketing niche.

It just really comes down to personal preference, and whether or not a signature link in this forum can drive targeted traffic to your website. Test for yourself and see.

What is being said is that you are not only making money by teaching.

I went into doing a IM training in Toronto and webinar several months ago, however I made the choice to build my business instead of teaching, here is why:

#1 - People want to buy pipedreams or magic pills. Making money does not happen without efforts. Here is my story, I worked a job for 4 years full time, part time built up business online and quit in 2007. Its the real online story, not the hollywood one.
#2 - The clientelle I got was people who had done more training then I did, but less action. I am not giving any value, they have heard it, its not complicated, if just requires work.
      #3 - It is a hussle business I found
#4 - I have the option; once you involve money in changes everything. I would rather help people here then in a formal structure setting.

So I dont think he is saying that its bad. He is saying that there are too many people that ONLY make money selling making money and often stuff that has not worked for them personally.

      Cheers,

I find that most forum trouble makers are not flying any sig, or they are not promoting themselves.

I have read 13 years of their excuses why they do not fly a sig. But I would think if you are established, whether you need forum business or not, you would want people to know who you are and what you are about. It really is just good business, and networking.

However, as most know, 90% simply are not business minded.

I've observed that several warriors, very successful, do not have sigs. I don't myself, (I am not hinting that I am a raging success, because I'm not, at least online), but my purpose for being on this forum is to learn, and when I have something valuable to contribute, to offer it. I have adequate sources of traffic using other means.
This is not to say that I will never add a signature, but the odds are slim.

The question was why don't people who complain about traffic use a signature file?

Not why doesn't everybody use a signature file.

I feel if you are looking for traffic then the first thing you should do is read up on traffic generation techniques and almost every book or forum post i have read talks about how a signature can get you traffic. So why moan and complain if you are not even taking the basic steps.

I have been a member of this forum since 2000 (when it was the old style forum - they changed it in 2002). I have always run a sig file and found that MOST of the traffic I get from here are simply looky-loo's who are simply curious about what I offer. Very few become customers (unless I run a WSO), so the traffic to me has little value.

I found it better as "link juice" for SEO.

Either way, not only have I turned off my sig file, I also chose to shut off sig files all together - so I can not see anyone else's

Some day, I'll turn it back on. But for now, it's less distracting.
