FTC Policy? Do you use it?

So I was browsing the net and stumbled upon what was clearly a review site setup by an affiliate. To my surprise I noticed at the bottom he had added
"In accordance with the FTC Policy I must state that I do earn commission on the sale of this book".

Personally, I always make a point of getting my hands on a copy of any item I promote to give it an honest personal review (i.e. no false claims), but do you actually have to put this in your review? Just wondering if that effects his conversions at all? Maybe it even helps build trust with his readers..who knows.

I mention it and see most other affiliates mention it.

Honesty is the best policy. If I earn a commission I note it.

It's better safe than sorry, really. I know that bloggers, especially, have to very plainly state whether or not they will make any money from the links or products they promote in their posts.

I believe you have to state when you're using affiliate links and such. I do it.

Some I have seen carefully use the terms:

    You should Assume
    and the word "may"
    and the word "might"

I just tell it like it is.
    Should you purchase
I will be compensated, however I believe that I offer
the best Bonus Package available if you buy through my link!

I think that is as honest as it gets.
