Whatever Happened to Email Aces?

Many years ago, I used a third party autoresponder called EmailAces. It was very good.

In those days, at the top of the autoresponder 'food chain' were; Aweber, EmailAces and GetResponse (not in any order).

Today I use only Aweber, but I notice that virtually all recommendations for third party ARs only seem to mention Aweber and GetResponse.

I'm sorry if I've been living under a rock, but I am interested in learning why EmailAces appears to have vanished from the scene. I have searched the WF, as well as Google, but have not found anything definative to answer my question thus far.

I would appreciate any information regarding this post, mostly out of curiosity, but obviously with a business interest in how a 'big' player fades away over the years.

If there is a good thread here that I have missed, please post a link to it, as I do not want to waste Warriors valuable time posting what has already been discussed.

Thanks and Regards,
Jeff Henshaw.

    Hi Jeff,

Do you mean 'faded away' purely because they are not promoted or recommended as much?

    They are still going.

I think perhaps (with respect to Gary and Simon) your initial assessment may have been incorrect (that all three were of a similar 'stature').

I would avoid using Compete to compare as at times they have a habit of counting widgets/javascript in funny ways.
Also I noticed recently the email list archives used by Aweber are now being used for parasite hosting, which may or may not be their intention.

Parasite hosting isn't necessarily a bad thing... a Facebook page is parasite hosting - using the site authority to get ranked, but it might not be what Aweber intended.
It can for example have an effect on terms they want to rank for.

There are also other design considerations, such as how many people use a custom confirm and thank you page.

Lots of Getresponse clients will be using their API which might reduce page views.

Both Aweber & Get Response have higher end services which would never register with that kind of comparison, Aweber with their white label, Getresponse with their Deda servers.

I am sure each in their own way are serving the customers they target extremely well.

Emailaces DOES have attrition that the others, I don't think, have, due to the lack of a free option. THAT obviously stunts growth, and may be a major reason why they seem to be, according to that competition report, only 2% of the size of getresponse, which is ITSELF, less than 50% of the size of aweber.

Yes, I meant that they are rarely promoted or recommended these days. I appreciate that the service is still available, but it was always recommended along side Aweber and GetResponse in days gone by.

I was not suggesting that all three were equal in stature, I am sorry if I implied that. All were and still are, I'm sure, different in their own ways. I was simply alluding to the fact that EmailAces was usually mentiond as one of the top three, but seems to be hardly ever mentioned or promoted now.

Further, I can't recall receiving an email for quite some time that was sent me from any list owner using EmailAces.

I use all three. To each their advantage and disadvantage.

Although EmailAces might not be on the same level as with the other two, but it does have one or two unique features not found in other third party autoresponders.

Except that we don't have a free option either. Never have. Free services just end up attracting spammers that hurt deliverability.

EmailAces is still working. I just signed up with them last week but to maybe I'm not that competent enough as I got lost in finding my way around to using it. IMHO they could have been better if they upgraded the features though.... (I unsubscribed and joined to another service instead)

If I recall, there was a point in time that Gary was working on a "bigger and better" version of Email Aces that would offer more features, etc. That may be the reason much of the recommendations stopped.

I remember hearing about that a couple of years back so I don't know what happened, or even if it's still in the works...

I'm on a few emailaces lists.
I think Gary has been focusing more on www.listwire.com

What strikes me is that the price structure of Email Aces seems soo much better than the others. That being said, listwire is free However, compared to aweber etc. Email aces was much less expensive.

At this stage, I don't know if I'll stay with Email Aces or I'll go with Listwire!

I used them awhile ago and just didn't like the service. Went with an Aweber reseller that I'm very happy with both the price and service.
