"Need Advice on Email marketing..

Hey Warriors,

I have a new website that I'd like to market and increase searches on "product name". I've figured the only way is to do an email marketing awareness campaign.

I've resolved to buy a list of a great number of qualified leads. Am stuck on which hosting platform to use for bulk mailing.

I approached Getresponse and they only accept "Purchased lists" that are bought from them..

Someone with an experience on bought lists?

Need advice on..
  1. What to do and what not to..
  2. Recommended resources
  3. Email Marketing rules compliance
Regards,

Mike

PS: My current web hosting does not allow sending more than 500 emails/ hour. Actually does not allow purchased lists..

smtp.com has proven to have a pretty good deliverability rate.

Then just grab a software such as Interspire, import your list, and mail away.

Well, you'll need some type of software. smtp.com is just a SMTP service that allows you to relay e-mail through their servers. Still need something to send the e-mail with though.

Don't have any experience with it, but phplist.com : Homepage : home seems to be well liked & reviewed, and it's free!

I've used phplist on my hosting a/c to manage a newsletter on one of my blog. Now I understand the provision of SMTP and how it works.

And if you send them out yourself, you're putting your internet connection in some peril, because there'll inevitably be some spam complaints.

Apologies for "negative posting", but I think your chances of success with this idea are very, very low - and there are actually good and valid reasons for that.
Some of the Successful internet marketers say they made mistakes that made their hosting accounts to be shut down or blogs deleted by Google what are these mistakes? Do the IM guru's preach water and drink wine? Hmmmhh.. just thinking

Alexa is right. I've also seen a lot of threads here lately about buying email leads. I really don't go that way, I'd rather have 500 subscribers that I've built on my own and i know it's responsive, than 5,000 bought leads.

You really need to build your list on your own, it's not the number of subscribers that you have, but the quality of your leads. If you are able to build thousands of subscribers on your own, then you won't regret doing it, and it's much sweeter to have that kind of number of subscribers that you know you've built and exert some effort compare to just buying some leads.

I'm not sure if I already see someone became so successful in buying email leads, at least in this forum, I haven't seen someone yet.

Just want to point out that doing this is not actually "spamming" in the legal sense. People (like you) may think it is and falsely report it as such and get you in trouble, because it's much easier to just block you than investigate.

But sending a commercial email, unsolicited or otherwise, bulk or otherwise is PERFECTLY FINE and LEGAL to do. All day long.

All you have to do is be honest about who you are, tell people how to STOP getting email from you, and then honor the requests of people who ask you to knock it off. And of course, a couple other rules available here:

The CAN-SPAM Act: A Compliance Guide for Business

You'll note that not only is the vendor on the hook for compliance, but anyone sending email on their behalf - like 3rd party bulk-mailing services - is also on the hook.

THAT'S why most of them will require a single or double opt-in - to cover THEMSELVES in the event that you don't comply. It's not a legal requirement - they're just being safe and smart to protect their businesses.

Don't mean to be a pedant, but it's alarming how many of us who send email for a living throw the word "spam" around without even knowing what it actually applies to.

        Myself included, until recently.

Fair warning: It's possible I'm arguing with you because I have nothing better to do.

Awesome! I admire your honesty. I can finally run this campaign with confidence. Definitely I'll use a capture page to filter the leads on Getresponse but initial mass mailings from bought list will have to use SMTP.com services
