Youtube Channel Partner Question .

Take a look at Jeff Johnson's Youtube page:

YouTube - jeffjohnsonvideos's Channel

Is the ability to add your own header with images that are clickable a function
of becoming a channel partner or is it something else entirely ?

The custom header is called "branding" - and its a feature of the youtube partner program.

I have not seen the clickable images before, that is something I need to look into.

      Perfect, cheers.

Any tips on a succesful application for the partner program.

And I presume it's relatively simple to do what Jeff's done whereby
he has multiple entities in the header all individually linked.

Quality content with lots of views.
        Plenty of subscribers
Be a member of youtube for at least 6 months before applying
Do not upload content that does not belong to you - this includes music, sections of videos, images,,,,,. 100% of your videos needs to be 100% your original production.
Do not produce spammy junk videos

I know people that have been rejected 3, 4 or even 5 times. Then I people who were accepted on their first application.

When you apply for the partner program, someone from google/youtube is going to take a look at your channel. From there they will determine if your videos bring anything to the community. Do your videos offer real content, and is it something that a company will want to run banners on?

Sorry, I should have been more specific, I've read the application
requirements and we meet all the criteria.

I'm purely interested in tips on actually applying ie the section where you
sell your content to YT, the box at the very bottom of the application.

Put all of the good things that you have to offer the YT community - sell yourself to them.

              :-)

If anybody has any specifics they used terminology , approach etc they think helped
              that would be great.

If I remember right - I filled mine out like it was an application for a job. I went into how I wanted to help the youtube community with my videos, how my videos were going to provide quality and unique content,,,,,.

You don't have to apply I guess. I got this invitation from youtube when a video of mine started getting popular. Though, I'd to just ignore it as it wasn't a unique video (got it with the affiliate tools of a product i've been promoting).

That isn't the partner program, I've got that email also for other accounts and I don't get the branding options, just the revenue for particular videos. I also don't get the option to turn on revenue share on other videos in that account, only one, as a partner you can enable all videos for rev share.

yes it's easy to but a banner or multiple clickable areas up top, that is called a "image map" with multiple links in the image.

Cool, if it's just an image map, that's fine nice and easy.

yah, we get the same, every time a video goes over about 8k we get that option e-mailed to us.

Actually I'm not that interested in rev share, it's more the ability to totally brand
and customize the YT page I'm interested.

The benefits of becoming a YouTube partner are :
(damn this message took some time)

    1) You get the option to run ads on your videos (you get around 2$ for each 1000 views)

    2)Greater exposure

Becoming a partner puts your video at the VERY TOP of video searches. Content will be delivered to the largest worldwide online video community via YouTube and its syndication partners without any restrictions.

    3) Skintillating Page Customization -
Youtube Partners can customize their YouTube pages with skins. Concordia University matched its skin to its school colors. Businesses who are YouTube Partners can tailor skins to align with their brand for awareness and recognition. Youtube Partners are afforded greater inclusion and control over their content when compared with non-partners.

Also, As a partner, the "Related Videos" section will be replaced by the "More From" section. The "More From" section will feature only thumbnail links to YOUR videos.
