New Site Advice...(traffic, copy writing, affiliates, members... )

I could use (a lot) of advice.

I have been working on my site for awhile (read: way too long) and it is pretty much technically set.

The problem is that I need help in the following areas, and having been unemployed for way too long, I am financially stuck.

I have come up with what I consider are some unique ideas on the site and some ideas on how to take care of the issues that I am facing, but still could use some advice.

Traffic... have an affiliate system setup, but not sure the best way to get traffic and have people send traffic to the site.

Copy - I can't write copy to get myself out of a paper bag (as you can tell by this message.) =)

The site is a free membership site, that presents new offers and products every day to the membership base. The products range from big name stuff down to some free items. It is designed to push traffic to the offers/products presented.

Members have their accounts coded with an affiliate ID that is locked to their membership for the lifetime of the account. Some offers/products have PayPal based affiliate programs (like $7 scripts, etc) or ClickBank based affiliate programs. When a Member clicks on an offer, some of these are automatically coded with the original affiliate's PayPal or ClickBank ID.

The concept is trying to provide a WIN-WIN-WIN situation.

Traffic Providers - WIN - You can get your affiliate code locked in for life to the member you referred.

Offer/Product Providers - WIN - You can get your product in front of members of the site, providing an additional stream of traffic.

Members - WIN - You can get a variety of offers/products easily made available to you, including some exclusive offers.

So.. what is the best way to deal with getting traffic and dealing with copy?

I have setup two pages to preview the site and get feedback (as well as an offer for copywriters.)

      As you will read often in the forum, some of the biggest marketers can't write copy or articles to save their lives.

      Outsourcing will probably be best for you, also purchasing plr products and articles to develop into products.

      Also consider video copy, some people are just better speaking than writing.

      Add some video to your sites to liven them up a bit.

    I don't mean this to be rude, but I am trying to figure out how it is a WIN for your members. From what you say the membership site is nothing more than pushing people to buy other products? Seem the free products are an after thought, if there will even be any?

    With that said, what's in it for your members? They get your link to buy something? Just trying to figure why they would want to join, what they would gt out of it.

    As far as copy, I am sure no expert, but you can start by listing the benefits, what they will get my becoming a member.

    Just my two cents...

      Eric,

      Thanks for taking the time to replu.

      The issue of outsourcing right now is limited funds.

      If I could afford it, I would outsource as much as possible.

      Actually the site was originally conceived as only free products. but I figured there should be other products as well.

      My problem is that I have some ideas on the benefits but never get it down on paper. I have been working on the tech side too much.

      The members would have easy access to a variety of products, offers and services. Initially there would be at least 1 free product and one paid product per day. As membership increased, I was hoping to get some more exclusive and better offers available to the members.

      The system can handle unlimited number of daily items and virtually all types of offers, so I wanted to provide more free offers per day, more good deals, connect people to good services (like hosting, site software, analytics, and other resources.) Since I wrote the backend, I basically can do just about anything I want with it, such as give a specific bonus item to members who signed up via a particular affiliates link.

      Speaking of bonus items. I am trying to arrange some higher value "bonus" items that will be available for free to provide to users on certain days (like a week after they join, a month, etc.)

      So a member would be have over 365 free items available per year... at least.

      Right now I have enough items to provide members at least a free item, a $7 item, and a higher cost (but usually discounted) item.

    Have you checked out "Blagman" in UK? He has a blog site that reviews products and he gets a free one for doing the review - which is supposed to be impartial. He has been given over $8,000 in free stuff and has over 30,000/mo following him on Facebook, last I heard. He wrote a book about it and how to do it, I think.

    He may have some copy, positioning and traffic ideas you can use. Sounds very similar to what you are doing minus the membership site.

      I hadn't really taken in the review side of things, but was considering it. The idea was to have a headline, a 200-250 word description and a link, but after giving his site (and a couple review sites a look over) I am thinking that I will expand the site to also have reviews, as well as ratings by the members.

      I appreciate the tip and am going to see what I can pick up from him.
