Re-write articles to post on site or post already published articles?

I know this may be a dumb question, but I'm working on a couple new websites and plan to start posting content to them regularly BEFORE posting that same content on sites like EZA. I have nearly 500 articles written in a few niches that are already published, and I want to add some of those to these new sites, but not sure on how I want to go about it.

What would you do - Take the time to rewrite the articles to make them unique again and then post them onto your own site or just post the already published articles to your own site without changing anything? The latter is fast and can build up the pages of my site quickly, but the first option can actually make these pages possibly rank higher in the search engines.

Since I'm in-between, I figured this would be the best place to ask. What do you think?

I would go the easy route first, and build your own site(s) with your articles first. (Make sure to put an author name in each article on your site, and be aware it will need to match the author name you use at EZA.)

Feed the same identical articles to EZA and other article directories next.

This approach will allow you to gather information the fastest, about what articles work better that others. You'll learn what article titles draw the most traffic, and what resource box gets the most click-throughs.

Remember, it's easy to make changes to the articles on your own site, later.

When you see that one of your articles on EZA gets good traffic, but outranks the copy on your own site, that's a good time to revise the copy on your site to target a slightly different keyword, so you don't compete with EZA.

I did have one article on my site that ranked well until someone with a bigger, more heavily backlinked site published the copy from EZA, and stripped out my resource box, and took over my page 1 spot, forcing my copy down to page 10. That's a drawback. But again, I think the solution is to revise the copy on my site to make it unique again, since I've already learned my site is capable of ranking for that keyword.

I might be rambling, but my point is that getting content out there ASAP, so you can learn what works, is more important than uniqueness. Because much of your content won't be successful anyway. Throw your stuff out there, and identify the good stuff, and then do what you have to do to maximize its traffic.

Patey - Thanks for the feedback. I am already planning on going this route in the future. I never did this in the past because I own over 30 different websites. Was too much trouble to go through them all and add content, but I'm changing up a few things now.

Still though, I want to do something with my previously published articles, so that's where the question still lies - There are benefits to both methods, but I'm just trying to get an idea what most people would do out there.

The first option will take longer, but with the rewritten article and it's uniqueness, I could possibly get thet article to rank higher with some backlinking. The only downfall is that I won't get many pages added very fast.

The second option is quick and allows me to get pages added to my site quickly. I can also backlink these deep links and get tons of backlinks to my site overall, but the content is not unique, so I may not receive much traffic (if any) from this option.
