I'm Lost! Article Marketers/List Builders Help!

So i've gone thru and built a website around a low gravity product on Clickbank. I've finally signed up to Aweber so that I can "do this right" by building a list the first time and now i'm stuck at what I should do next.

I've written a free report and have it on my site clearly displayed with an opt in box next to it, however i'm kind of stuck on how I should promote the affiliate product that i'm truly trying to sell.

**Here's the Question**

I plan to distribute my Articles that I have created for my site around the web after they are indexed by Google, but i'm not sure where I should point the articles to directly.

I eventually want to get them back to a review page of the product i'm promoting... and in the past I would just direct them to the review page and call it good, but now i'm trying to build a list and really don't know where I should send them.

Should I offer the free report and just eventually point them to the review page after I build a bit of a relationship with them?

Or should I point them to the review page as soon as they sign up to get the free report?

If I end up doing the latter, I don't see what I would be doing building the list and promoting a product they read a review on immediately after signing up to my list.

This is some crazy confusing stuff for me being sadly my first time approaching this type of model.

Any guidance from those who have been where i'am currently at?

If I were you I'd send the traffic to a squeeze page, offer the free report there for more access and the free report.

Also I don't know if you have checked out the copy writing part of the forum but it could be a big help to you.

Build the site around a theme & recommend the products in your web copy using preselling techniques. Personally, I would get hold of a copy of the product so you can do this well.

Use a related free gift as your autoresponder bribe, but in the sign-up box make it plain that they are signing-up for your free course or newsletter. In the autoresponder sequence continue to feed good-quality info peppered with your recommendations.

    Good luck,

    Will

I agree with Will. I think most people forget that when you are trying to build a list, there should be some sort of "incentive" as I prefer to call it. No one will volunteer their email just because unless they are going to get something out of it. Offer them something of value to your both. Something that they may find usefull and would leave them with the desire of wanting to get more from you. BUT always make it clear what exactly they are signing up for, otherwise you will be bombarded with unsubscribe emails. If there is one thing people hate is to sign up for something and get something totally different.

You're building the list so you can promote that product you wrote the review on as well as other products. So that's the point. Go article -> opt in page -> review. Have a autoresponder series of about 20 or so articles, reports, tips, etc. Send it every 4 days or so with a product review/promotion in between. So it looks like this: Free content - Free Content - Free content - Free content - Product review/promotion. Repeat. Of course modify it as you see fit.

I'm one of the biggest dang fans you will find when it comes to list-building...but that being said make sure that your niche market is conducive to building a list. For example, make sure that you have other products that you can upsell, cross-sell, etc.

If you only have one product in a very small niche then you may be easting some effort. Depends on the niche though.
