How do you backlink an ezine article?

Hey guys

Ok, may seem like a stupid question but I am having trouble backlinking an ezine article.

Most of the time when I try leaving a link on blog for example it tells me the address is wrong, even with services such as blog blueprint. Has this something to do with the URL structure? Is there a way to get round it or will i need to resort to using article base or goarticles for promoting articles?

Any help would much be appreciated.

Thanks

Be sure to read Ezine Articles' rules about how you link in the resource box.

They want top level domains (TLD): e.g. www.mysite.com

      Not www.mysite.com/blogblueprint
      Not blogblueprint.mysite.com
      Not latino123.blogblueprint.hop.clickbank.com

      Just a top level domain.

So you have a few choices:
      • Use something else like Go Articles, Hubpages, etc.
      • Link to you blogs home page (TLD only)
      • Purchase a domain name from Go Daddy, then forward and mask your affiliate link with it

Guys, thanks for the reply, although I think you may have understood me, partly my fault.

What I mean is that how do I backlink an ezine article. Most of the time when i try to create backlinks pointing towards my ezine article that is already published it doesn't work.

whether it be a blog comment and leaving the ezine url or using blog blueprint it tells me i cant leave that url because it is wrong.

  • Hello latinoman,

Usually the links go in the resource or reference box. If by any chance your link is not being accepted you need to contact ezine support and have them analyze exactly what is wrong with your submission. Remember that ezine is one of the strictest directories and the littlest thing will stall your submission.

As for the other directories, you should not put all your eggs in one basket. Submit to ezine and then submit to others. However, make sure that if you will be posting the articles on your site, you do that first before submitting and then link back to your site.

I hope I have shed some light on your situation.

    Good Luck.

The question mark in the Ezine Articles url will throw up an error on some sites due to the formatting but its hasn't really affected my SEO efforts using 2.0 sites and other article sites.

Usually I will bookmark, ping, submit RSS feed via html2rss.com and then use the 2.0 sites and links from other article sites, Link Racer, Niche Plat Press and SEO Link Vine to give it a boost.

I have found that a well optimised article will get in the top ten that way for any phrase with less than a million results in quotes.

    Hope that helps.

      Latinoman,

When you create the backlink - do you copy & paste the url of your article? I do that because they can be pretty long and easy to get wrong. If that does not work (and if you are definitely using the right coding), perhaps an email to Ezine customer service would help.

      Sincerely,
      Cindy P.

I've never had this kind of problem before. Does the blog comment actually take the EZA url, and then when you click on it (on the blog) it doesn't work, or is it that the blog you are commenting on won't allow it?

You could perhaps mask it using a shortened url (bit.ly or tinyurl etc there are many) and then put it in the blog comments - but I don't know if this would cost you the boosting effect of the backlink to your EZA article.

    Regards

    Francis

I have never come across this problem either, although I know there are some sites like Digg for example (unless they've changed it recently) that wont allow links from some directories like Ezine. However, if you are just linking back from a blog or something there shouldn't be a problem.

I often use Ezine Articles as the focus for linkwheels that I create. I am the same, never had a problem copying and pasting my ezine URL and having it show up as a backlink, either in other article directories, or in the plethora of Web2.0 sites out there. But I always copy and paste, I never try to type it directly! Conact ezine support, they are very helpful.

    Good luck!

I know that a lot of the cool kids these days are doing this but....I'm not sure why you would want to build backlinks to someone else's website? Correct me if I'm wrong but I thought the whole idea behind backlinking was to get traffic to your own website.

Yeah...I get the idea behind building backlinks to an article that you want to be ranked high by why not build backlinks back to your article on your OWN site? It just seems like a lot of effort that is wasted on helping build up someone else's site.

The way I see it... ezine get tons of backlinks per day for various reasons. Google et al see this as normal.

Yourwebsite.com will not get as many as ezine. If there is a sudden influx, then you either better have a good linking strategy, or hope Google doesn't penilize you and whack you down the rankings.

Firing off a bunch of links at YOUR article for YOUR keywords will increase the chances of YOUR article appearing higher in the search rankings for YOUR keywords. And when I say a bunch, you can direct pretty much as many links as you like at an ezine article in my opinion without your main site being affected. Try the same with your domain that is receiving only a fewlinks every now and then, and you could be disappointed.

If your article holds good value content, then visitors will click through to your site. It's like having a layer of insulation, protecting your sites slow but steady progress up the search results. Your aim should be to outrank your backlinks, but having them there in the first place - showing up nicely in the rankings - must be a bonus, no?
