Video File Size and Opt Ins

Hi guys....Been lurking around for awhile and ran into a huge problem I am needing help with.

I have some videos produced from Camtasia and the file size of each is very large. Ranging from 13MB - 75MB depending on length.

I want to provide these videos as a result of someone opting into my list from an AWeber opt in form on my websites.

My first option was to set these videos up on a separate, hidden webpage and provide the link to the subscriber in an opt in email. However, the videos, individually, are way too big and I can't upload them to my website. I use Wordpress for most of my blogs and website. And I think it will only upload a video to maximum size 10MB.

I've tried converting to other file formats and even compressing the videos but that seriously distorts the video's quality.

Does anyone have any idea what other options that exist or another or better way of providing these large videos to my opt in subscribers?

This is totally driving me bananas!

Thanks guys!

Have you heard of Youtube? ;-)

I host several auto-responder series using Youtube as a host. And now it is even better because you can upload your videos and make them UNLISTED, but still use the embed code for your pages sent via email.

    No conversion challenges either.

If you plan to host several videos on our own host, (probably shared, right?) you will just be creating streaming and delivery problems for yourself. AVOID that all you can.

The new unlisted feature of YouTube is very cool.

Another alternative is to 'host' them using Amazon S3 storage and stream them on your website from there.

If you Google it you'll find a bunch of tutorials.

Thanks guys! I just setup 1 of the videos using the "unlisted" YouTube option. Very easy!
The only problem I see with it is that the "YouTube" stamp is still on the video but I guess that you can't get around that.
Also, the video quality does not seem to be as clear and crisp the same if you were viewing the video in other video players. Especially when I expanded the video to full screen.

I did take a glance at Amazon S3. It seems like that is very difficult to manage and could not quite figure out once the videos were uploaded and stored on Amazon's servers, how to get the videos over to my websites.

Just ran into a new problem with the Youtube resolution. It will only take videos up to 10 minutes long. Some of mine are longer than 10 minutes and the first one longer than 10 minutes I tried was rejected.
Guess I need to keep looking for other options.

Or clip them into part 1 and 2. Ten minutes is a long video, so I think it is almost always a good idea to keep segments under that time.

            Hi Marty,

You are correct. It would be best to go back and split some of these into 2 parts to break down the monotony. They are training videos per se.
I am still learning this so your suggestions really do help a lot. I can also re-process using an HD format also. Thank you!

I don't see that as a big problem. So what? They know you use Youtube to host it?

The video quality is only limited by the file you upload. Youtube has HD man, so upload a big screen version of your project, and use the wide screen dimensions if you still can of 1280x720.

Double click on this video and watch it in HD on Youtube, you will see what I mean.

Also, you do need to wait about an hour sometimes for the best quality to show on your Youtube uploads. Even though you can watch it right away the YT software is STILL working on improving the quality.

This is a good option too, but keep things as simple as you can to start out. Amazon S3 is NOT easy to set up, but it is an host to look at down the road.
