Looking for quality images

INTERNET MARKETING

Anyone know a site where I can get free quality images for my websites?
If I do a search for "free photos", a bunch of sites come up which have great photos only to find they cost money.

Hi Pete

Say you are looking for images of toy ducks try searching:

"Toy Ducks Images Creative Commons"

A creative commons image is usually an image that other people can publish - although you must always check if you need to credit the original photographer somewhere in the post or article where you use that image.

I get virtually all of my free images through flickr creative commons. A thorough database of images there. I post to my blog 1-2 times daily and never run out of creative and attention grabbing pics.

I use the Attribution only licenses photos because they carry the least restrictions.

  That is a great site I use all the time. Just do an advanced search,
  choose no for restrictions. Then read the image license and normally
  you can use them for normal websites. You can't use people images
  if they endorse or advertise a product, or images to do illegal activity.
  Other than that, they are pretty liberal for free use. You cannot
  resell items with them, of course.

  As I've heard this advice countless times (yeah, just do a Google image search - you'll find tons of stuff...), here's a bit more explanation for those who still think grabbing anything you find in a Google Image search is a viable plan.
  
  A Google Image search is exactly like a Google text search in terms of whether you have the right to use what you find. A Google Image search returns every result Google finds for your search term, without regard to copyright. So, if I search for "weight loss," WebMD is in second place. Does that mean I can use anything I find on WebMD, just because it came up in a Google search? Of course not!
  
  Now I do a Google Image search for "weight loss." The best example I see is in the top 10 is a weight loss cartoon, which is clearly copyrighted.
  
  If you do an image search for "massage seattle," you'll find business cards for and pictures of Seattle massage therapists. Are those free for the taking?
  
  (I'm sure there are better examples, but I don't have time to find them.)
  
  You can use Google Image search to find some good stuff. Here's how.
  
  If you want to use Google to find free images, do a Google Advanced*Image*Search. Under Usage Rights, choose "labeled for commercial reuse" or "labeled for commercial reuse with modification." And even then, be sure to double-check the rights for any image you want to use.

Does anyone know... if I was to buy an image from iStock Photos, do they supply the image as a .png file with a transparent background so I can change the background colour from the default white?
