Has anyone had luck in sending your affiliate link via twitter? If not stated in the TOS can it be done and/or have you tried it?

Everybody is posting lots of affiliate links via twitter. They use a link shortener like bit.ly or budurl or something similar.

Absolutely correct. I auto-tweeted tons of affiliate links via URL shorteners. Absolutely no conversions. Very untargeted traffic. For what it is worth, I have had more success tweeting links to a signup page with a free offer.

Agreed. More and more people are finally realizing this. From my own tests and talking with social media guru friends of mine they're found the same thing.

There are so many people on twitter now auto following and auto tweeting to each other lol - especially in the IM niche.

    Hi DNChamp,

Yes, it definitely can be done. As Istvan mentioned, most people use a bit.ly link within their tweets to shorten their affiliate link.

I think you could only use a link shortener as twitter dosen't give much room for long messages. Take a look on twitter if you have an account and these links are usualy highlighted in blue.

It hasn't been effective for me. Much better pushing a squeeze page.

got ya...was just an idea to bring more clicks to the affiliate and possible sign up. I as well have the email newsletter to but still brand new as it was just added.

Twitter largely = bots talking and following other bots. As mentioned above the conversion rate is terrible, but with that said I have picked up some great repeat buyers there. Just not many.

I think the best formula is to post a review to your blog, then use Twitter to drive traffic to that post. If you can't get your Twitter followers to visit your blog, you need to spend more time providing better content in your Twitter stream and good blog content.

I find it hard to understand why anyone would think Twitter affiliate links will convert particularly if all you are doing is just auto tweeting affiliate links.
