Wow... Blizzard is pretty smart.

World of Warcraft costs about $15 a month to play... there are 8,000,000 people playing.

That's about 120 billion dollars per month.

Blizzard could've just sold the game in stores and made a killing just off that.

Makes you think continuity.

      I was thinking about those numbers too awhile back. I think at one point that had some 11,000,000 members.

      It also costs like $100 to buy the game and expansions, so there is another good chunk of change there.

      It's all about addiction.

      WoW players go insane(I've been there). The game is really really addictive and it never ends.

      It'd be very hard to replicate that.

      Blizzard is amazing though...not going to lie.

        It would be tough to replicate...

        Maybe some game developer marketers are doing similar things on a small scale.

        ... I just find the decision making processes in marketing really interesting.

        Just think if they didn't decide to use continuity here or never thought about it.

        Billions of dollars down the drain.

    Ye, dont get started on that ****, it's the most addictive thing I have ever tried.

    On topic: They earn quite a bit, but the profit on the game is lower than everybody expect. Was reading some numbers a while back and they surprised me quite a bit.

      I've never played WoW or even seen it but from all the buzz about the game and the thousands of WoW strategy guides sold thru IM, it must be one heck of a game!
      I'm almost afraid to take a look at it in fear of becoming an addict...LOL

    shees only $120 million per month what's the point then? I wouldn't bother for small money :-)

    Never played it...never will. I prefer to keep fit and get out. Nothing worn if you do in moderation I suppose.
