Okay, this is odd. For the second time now, I have had a charge pop up on my Pay Pal account that I did not originate. These were not large amounts, and the companies involved seemed to be legitimate companies.
The first one reversed very promptly, with the company involved reversing the charge almost immediately. The second one I have to have Pay Pal take care of, as I cannot go to the second company's customer support without joining them, which I am reluctant to do.

So...has this ever happened to you? Any thoughts on how this could have happened? Or why?

Have you done a whois lookup on them?

What did the first company tell you? Did you ask them how they charged your account without your permission? My guess is that they are making the charges via your PayPal debit card number and not your actual PayPal account.

    Have you asked PayPal CS?

Did not do a whois lookup. First company offered no explanations, simply reversed the charges immediately upon notifications.
Second company, appears as though I cannot communicated with them unless I sign up as a member, but I will check it out more thoroughly.
Re the last one, doubtful about the debit card, as I've only had it a week. But maybe..... interesting thought you have.
