Going Broke With 1ShoppingCart

I am paying for 2 Pro accounts with 1ShoppingCart because I have two different businesses online. But the cost is killing me ($400/month) at the moment. I asked them if I could combine the two accounts and they said it would cost me $150 to do that. WTF? Has anyone else had any issues with them? Advice?

Thanks.

Advice, Stop using them. If its not making you money why would you keep using them?

There are lots of other shopping cart alternatives online, just google

I stopped using them when they started charging for support on their lower priced memberships.

      I changed to Ultracart.com

Depending on what features you are currently using not it may not have everything but you need but you may want to check them out. If it works for you it's much cheaper even if you need to add another service like Awebber.

I found it does have a higher learning curve than 1shoppingcat but if you can deal with that, the features it offers are prettu cool.

    I agree

A company that charges you for support when you spend so much with them per month deserves to lose your business.

I've used 1sc since 2004 and I'm seriously considering cleaning my list and moving it back to Aweber. Always regret cancelling my aweber account

Have you looked at zen cart ?

Its free and its not actually too dificult to install and set up, I played around with it a couple of years ago so I would imagine its probably improved even more, although it was still very good back then.

For the 400 dollars you are paying now you could have someone from their forum do an install and set up for you.

ultra cart is good but man... good luck getting support there.... theres like 1 guy working there and they never answer the phones....

maybe the prblem isn't the cart.... its the fact you're stressing over spending $400.... you should maybe focus on making more money. :-)

davemiz makes a very good point about support and that is why I would again recommend zen cart.

The forum is huge with thousands of users who contribute to the forum, if there is ever anything you need help with, you will get it 24 hours a day for free.

I've almost always had good phone support with Ultracart. The only times I didn't I think is when I called on a busy Monday morning or something. All the other times the support has been great.

Why do you have 2 carts? Can't you run multiple websites with just one cart? We do that with our account.

How do you do it? I tried doing it for my ecommerce sites, but since the system uses the same thank you page for every product, it doesn't work for my situation because my thank you pages have to be different for each ecommerce site. Unless I'm missing something. I couldn't find anything in their support area addressing this issue. So, how do you support multiple sites without sharing one thank you page?

    Hello,

    Ken

I have been setting people up at Ebook General Store - web hosting and domain registration

They have like PHP 30 scripts that install easy... including osCommerce (open source free script)

Lots of cool scripts:Elefante Installer with 30+ FREE PHP scripts

Anyways I have installed this for several people and it seems to work great... A run down on it:

osCommerce is an online shop e-commerce solution that offers a wide range of out-of-the-box features that allows online stores to be setup fairly quickly with ease, and is available for free as an Open Source based solution.

That beats paying all that money out every month, dang you can get a nice car for 400.00 extra a month

    Hope that helps

    Hi Ken,

I've had clients shutting down their 1SC accounts and moving to DLGuard in conjunction with Aweber or Getresponse (or their prefered autoresponder).

From the money you're spending with 1SC, you'd break even in the first couple of weeks.

One of the downsides of moving FROM 1SC is that they'll charge you to export all of your customer details (or at least they used to). I had this happen to a client - apparently he could export most of his customer's info, but if he wanted it all, then they charged him an hourly rate to export it for him.

So I'd recommend checking with this as well.

But again, $400 a month? It wouldn't take you long to break even, even with the "exit fees".

    cheers

Cancel 1SC and get Delavo which is $497 a month. Delavo is cart that slashes all others now and for decades to come.

    Here's comparison between Delavo/1SC/InfusionSoft: http://delavosecure.com/special/comparison-chart.html

Use coupon "NObrainer" to waive to $47 a month.

  • I am not sure why you need two instances of 1ShoppingCart. You could run your two businesses off one single instance.

Thanks to everyone for their ideas! I am going to move to one of the other ones very soon. I'm also combining accounts so I have them both under one umbrella at 1SC for the time being.

Also I wanted to correct an error I made. They charge $99 per month, not $199 as I mistakenly thought. I pay $200 a month, not $400.

      Thanks again!

Be sure to do them the favor and tell them why you are leaving (the cost) it will help others that are in the same boat as you and maybe the company.

I would take a month or two to learn the OSCommerce shopping cart and then create a website and transition my data myself, and then cut the ties right after Christmas (why risk a screw up before the holiday shopping season right?)

You can set different Return URL's in your product set up - its under one of the drop down option when you're viewing your page.
