Article marketing Vs Press releases

It seems that nowadays most people are relying on press releases to get to the front page but is article marketing dead?

I tried press releases but it never seemed to work for me but article marketing definitely works.My question is which one worked for you?
If you had to pick one would it be article marketing or press releases?

    Let the first page of google for your keyword guide you. Whatever window you see there, follow it.

    I've tried press releases a couple of times. It definitely got me the top 10 rapidly for some minor keywords, but I have a pagerank 6 site, and I have no trouble doing that anyway. Now I don't use either method, but I assume they are both still good for up and coming sites. The main thing to be careful about is massively creating low quality content. That will eventually catch up with you in the wrong way.
