Offering resell master rights... WHY???

Hey warriors,

I have an ebook that sells fairly OK and receives very good opinions. I've received a number of requests from affiliates to offer resell rights, but I just can't figure out why would I want to do it?

I mean, let's say the price of the ebook is $37, and let's say I could offer resell rights for $97... why would I lose an affiliate who generate sales for me by offering him full resell master rights? only for those $97?!?!

Can someone explain what's the point of offering resell rights? I just cant figure out why a vendor would do it!

TIA!

Would not do it. Your logic is sound.

      To make it go viral.

You will normally have links in the product to your other products. More people giving it out or selling it will get you more sales of other products.

I just wanted to add that these affiliates would basically be paying to $97 (or whatever you decide to charge) for the privilege of advertising for you and marketing YOU.

Your name is presumably in the product, and so are your links. Maybe you've got affiliate links in there and maybe you've got links to your own sites as well.

Unless you sell them PLR, none of the content can be altered.

Of course, if said affiliates are making a good number of sales for you, then it might not be wise to sell them the RR to your product for such a low price.

Just when you think you've got it all figured out, someone changes the rules.

    Hello,

Why don't you make a short ver of this product with brandable links inside for your affiliates to have master rights to it.

They get a master right product that they can sell or give away, they are happy at the same time they brand the book with their affiliate code still making sales and your happy.

    Hope that helps

It all depends on your strategey, one point is already stated, you may be more interested to spread the links inside your book or something else. Also in some cases most resellers will not bring you much money as an affiliate, or they will just in the long term and you want quick money, so better get the a bigger value selling the reseller rights.

Makes sense to do it for list-building/lead-capture

Offer resell rights, but you provide a special offer inside the report (perhaps along with affiliate/sales links of your own) where additional training can be obtained by opting in to your list.

You might do it because sales start to slack off, maybe you have a newer (better) product and as Tom said ... to make it go viral.

You're name will be plastered around so make sure if you're Googled - you're found.

I was just going to say that.

Offer MRR when sales slow down and you've lowered but yet its not selling.

There is no way I would sell MASTER Resell Rights for less than 3x the selling price. Standard resell rights, maybe.

I have already faced the same situation and I said no.

As another Warrior has already said, the only point of offering people resale rights is to make the eBook goes viral. However, if you are making money with the ebook itself and not with something that you are promoting with it I don't see how offering resale rights to your affiliates could be a good idea.
