Website not showing up with the "www.", but does without?

I've seen this question before, but couldn't find it on the WF.

I've never experienced this before, but for some reason my hostgator account is not showing a new domain when I use the http://www. infront of it, but it does show up when I just use the domain name...

...for example "http://mysite.com" in the address bar.

I know it's probably something obvious, but any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Nick

check your .htaccess file. You can set it to forward www to no www. That way when people visit your site they don't bounce.

Oh man... Check the control panel (go to domain redirect in control panel), you must checked on "show without www"

Check on "show with or without www"

The actual answer is that you need a DNS rule A rule for *.yourdomain.com to map to <the-ip-address-of-your-domain>. The problem is that right now you only have yourdomain.com mapping to that IP address.
